Robert Englund to hunt crocs for Syfy in 'Lake Placid' sequel

The Syfy network announced on Nov. 3 that horror icon Robert Englund, aka Freddy Krueger, will appear in the upcoming Syfy Saturday Original Movie Lake Placid: The Final Chapter.

Englund follows previous Placid performers Betty White, Cloris Leachman and Colin Ferguson as Jim Bickerman, a croc poacher. Lake Placid: The Final Chapter will also co-star Elisabeth Rohm (Law and Order) and Yancy Butler (Kick-Ass). The creature feature, directed by Don Michael Paul, is currently filming in Bulgaria and will premiere on Syfy in 2012.

This news is so good we thought it deserved a nursery rhyme:

One, two, Englund's coming to the tube.
Three, four, Syfy is giving us more.
Five, six, this feeds our monster fix.
Seven, eight, a Placid sequel is great.
Nine, ten, those crocs are at it again.

Majesco's 'Hidden' augmented reality game now available

Video game publisher Majesco announced today that its augmented-reality paranormal video game The Hidden is now available on the Nintendo 3DS.

Developed by 1st Playable Productions, the ghost hunting game transforms the 3DS into "a portal to the astral plane" which allows gamers to investigate real-world environments with the system's camera to "search, capture and destroy supernatural entities." (Sounds like Casper is about to have a lousy afterlife.)

Of course, it would be impossible to talk about an AR ghost game without mentioning the long-delayed game Ghostwire for the DSi, which looked cool and built some buzz, but has never made it to market. Now the question remains whether it ever will be released since The Hidden clearly scooped it.

As far as the Hidden "plot" goes, as a member of the Ghostly Entity Investigation and Strike Team, (G.E.I.S.T.), players must bring their 3DS device with them to new locations to complete the 12-mission game. Along the way, different gameplay activities include: scanning an area using the 3DS camera and Wi-Fi hotspots; tracking ghosts and pulling them from their realm into ours; shooting ghosts with paranormal weapons tech; navigating through tunnels of other dimensions; avoiding being detected "by entities that are too great in number or extremely tough to handle with your equipment."

Jesse Sutton, CEO of Majesco Entertainment, describes The Hidden as "bridging worlds which conceptually is a great fit for the ghost hunting theme."

"Gamers everywhere will get a thrill out of discovering what’s truly hidden in some of their favorite real-world spots."

Ghosts get busy in Cleveland home

A local Fox affiliate is reporting that a family in Cleveland is experiencing all sorts of ghostly activity, the worst of which may be some ghosts getting freaky on their couch. If the video below does indeed show proof of ghostly sex, then it kind of makes us wonder why spirits wouldn't get a room at the Four Seasons, or somewhere swanky, instead of getting sloppy on the sofa. Maybe these are the ghosts of horny teens without a place to crash - or they've been eternally sexiled to fool around at a relative's house.

UFO 'rod' caught on video at NFL game?

Huffington Post's Lee Speigel serves up video footage of a possible UFO "rod" caught on video at the Oct. 23 NFL game between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts (remember the one where the score was 62-7?).

Anyhow, it's fairly interesting footage, but Speigel actually goes deeper by providing a thorough description of rod phenomena (which admittedly sounds like the name of a porn star) and speaks both with informed skeptics and believers. But one thing HuffPo doesn't discuss is how much it cost that UFO to attend the game. Are those technically skybox seats or just the super nosebleed section?
