Rosemarie DeWitt will officially be taking on the role of "Diane Freeling" in Gil Kenan's upcoming remake of Poltergeist. The role was originally played by Jobeth Williams in the 1982 film.

DeWitt is a relative necomer to the horror genre, but with stellar performances in Mad Men and Afterschool, audiences can expect a solid performance.

The remake will focus on a family that relocates to an "outdated suburban home" only to be attacked by an angry spirit that kidnaps their youngest daughter. Production on the film is set to begin this fall for a release in 2014.
