Universal Pictures has officially changed the title of their new film from "Dracula: Year Zero" to "Dracula Untold."

Directed by newcomer, Gary Shore and written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, this take on the Bram Stoker classic will mingle vampire mythos with the true story of Transylvanian Prince, Vlad the Impaler, to create an origin story for the infamous Count Dracula.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the film paints Vlad as a tragic and flawed hero, who risks his very soul in order to save his wife and child from a Turkish horde.

Luke Evans ("Immortals") will be portraying Vlad, with Sarah Gadon and Dominic Cooper co-starring in this epic tale. The film is currently in production and is set for release on October 3, 2014.
