'Super Mario Bros.' movie gets sequel ... in comic form

In 1993, Lightmotive Pictures brought every '80s kid's favorite video game, Super Mario Bros., to the big screen, with Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the live-action versions of Mario and Luigi.

If you don't remember (it was 20 years ago after all, and the movie was really bad), the film ended with Daisy (Sarah Polly) bursting in and whisking the brothers off on another adventure. It was quite the cliff hanger and just begging for a sequel. Well, get ready because that sequel is finally on its way; this time taking comic book form.

Super Mario Bros 2: The Sequel, is currently in the works, and to make fans even more excited? Comic creators Ryan Hoss and Steven Applebaum have actually met with Parker Bennett, the script writer of the original movie to ensure the sequel is entirely canon.
