'Sharknado' brings biting terror from the skies!

Since 1975, audiences have been terrified to go back in the water. Fear no more, friends, for the water is just fine. In 2013, you have to fear the skies.

This July, The Asylum productions and Syfy bring us a new original movie, Sharknado. Local beachside bar owner, Fin (Ian Ziering) along with bartender Nova (Casie Scerbo) and bar regular/town drunk (John Heard) join forces with April (Tara Reid), Fin's ex, to uncover the dangerous mystery that has vicious, man-eating sharks tearing through the Los Angeles streets and raining from the skies.

Of course, Sharknado follows a proud (and proudly cheesy) Syfy tradition of crazy shark movies, such as Hammerhead: Shark Frenzy, Sharktopus, Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, Dinoshark and Jersey Shore Shark Attack.

Could the idea behind Sharknado be loosely based on the real-life horror story of a leopard shark falling from the sky onto a California golf course in 2012? Unless you're a galeophobe, tune in to Syfy on July 11 at 9 p.m. to check it out!

Also coming up on the network's summer season of monsters, Frankie Muniz (Malcolm in the Middle) and Barry Bostwick (Rocky Horror Picture Show) star in Blast Vegas on Thursday, July 18 at 9 p.m. The movie is about a group of frat bros (and their nerd sidekick Muniz) who unleash an ancient Egyptian curse after stealing a relic from a Las Vegas casino. Blast Vegas is a production of Brainstorm Media.
