Nicholas Cage Was Once an Overnight Guest in Dracula's Castle

In "What's up with Nicholas Cage lately?" news...the Inquisitr is reporting that the quirky star once spent the night in Dracula's castle to get more inspiration for his "Johnny Blaze" role in 2011's Ghost Rider: The Spirit of Vengeance

According to his co-star, Idris Elba, Cage admitted to him that he spent the night in the notorious Romanian domain to "channel the energy." Elba was quoted as saying, "We were shooting in Romania, Transylvania, and he just went up there to spend the night, as you do. And then he walked away. True story.” Apparently it didn't work that well since the film wasn't much of a hit.

Is Cage a vampire? Probably not.
Cage is no stranger to the paranormal, however. Perhaps his fascination began when he was told that his son would not live past the age of 15? Thankfully the sick premonition did not come to fruition. In addition to actually playing a vampire in Vampire's Kiss and having that picture of the Civil War era soldier that looked like him go viral, Cage went on to begin penning a horror novel. Between 2007 and 2009, Cage moved into the home of infamous slave murderer, Madame Delphine LaLaurie in New Orleans. Why? Inspiration from all the suffering that occurred in the home. Apparently the novel didn't get published so that's a bummer. According to Cage's IMDB page, he does have a few upcoming projects completed and in the works.

So does this news surprise you? How far would you go for artistic inspiration? What's your favorite Cage film? I'm partial to Valley Girl, myself.
