Syfy this year is a new hour-long, ten-episode outer space series based on the New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as "The Expanse." It will be called, appropriately, "The Expanse." The book series was written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey) and they'll also serve as show producers.
The series is described by Syfy as, "A thriller set two hundred years in the future, 'The Expanse' follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history." It will star Thomas Jane ("The Mist") as Detective Miller. He is "a native of the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter" who "works for a corporate security force that operates as the law in the asteroid belt." Cool job, right? We get to see him in action in the first released trailer for the series and brace yourselves, this trailer features zero-gravity space sex. The future looks pretty cool.
The series also stars Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala and Steven Strait as an officer named Holden. There's no air date scheduled as of yet but we'll keep you updated.
