Have you seen the intro to “The Simpsons” annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode? Well you must! The opening sequence was created by none other than Guillermo del Toro and the numerous horror references are fun to pick out.
The opening credits touch on everything from an attacking Cthulhu to “The Shining,” “The Birds,” “The Car,” “Blade” and “Alice in Wonderland.” It also features zombies and the classic Universal monsters, as well as appearances from authors Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, and Ray Bradbury. Of course del Toro pays homage to “Hellboy," "Pacific Rim" and “Pan’s Labyrinth” as well.
