'The Simpsons' 25th Annual 'Treehouse of Horror' Airs Tonight

Tonight at 8 pm ET on Fox marks a quarter century of horror in a Springfield treehouse. Yep, the 25th episode of "The Simpsons" Treehouse of Horror airs tonight and Bart and Lisa will be transported to an alternate universe. After the "official" synopsis, check out the promo and a hellish clip. Then, let us know what your favorite Halloween episode has been so far and if you remember the first one just like the old lady writing up this piece does.

The 25th annual 'Simpsons' Halloween special includes an alternate dimension, a "Clockwork Orange"-style gang led by Moe and a visit from the Tracey Ullman-era Simpsons.

'Treehouse of Terror' Intro...with Labels!

We recently posted on the incredibly cool, horror-reference-galore, Guillermo del Toro-directed opening to "The Simpsons" Halloween special. The "Treehouse of Terror" episode airs Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET on Fox and thanks to the diligent folks at MoviePilot, we can now watch and recognize the plethora of paranormal awesomeness it has to offer.

We think it was more fun to keep watching the clip and finding new references but we'll let you take a look to see what you may have missed. Is it possible that they missed a few?

'The Simpsons' Halloween Episode Has a Killer Intro

Have you seen the intro to “The Simpsons” annual “Treehouse of Horror” episode? Well you must! The opening sequence was created by none other than Guillermo del Toro and the numerous horror references are fun to pick out.

The opening credits touch on everything from an attacking Cthulhu to “The Shining,” “The Birds,” “The Car,” “Blade” and “Alice in Wonderland.” It also features zombies and the classic Universal monsters, as well as appearances from authors Stephen King, Edgar Allan Poe, and Ray Bradbury. Of course del Toro pays homage to “Hellboy," "Pacific Rim" and “Pan’s Labyrinth” as well.

See how many references you can pick out. There are tons more!

“The Simpsons” will air its Halloween episode this Sunday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
