'X-Men: Days of Future Past' Official Trailer

Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" may not hit US theaters until May 23, 2014, but luckily, an awesome and revealing trailer has just been released to hold us over. This sequel-prequel is chock full of X-Men goodness and includes not only our old favorites, but many new faces.

I spy Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games") as "Mystique," Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones") as "Bolivar Trask," Evan Peters ("American Horror Story") jumps aboard to play "Quicksilver" and Anna Paquin is back to play "Rogue."  Oh and of course there's Wolverine with a little distinguished-looking graying to his mane.

Updated with geeky Aaron Sagers notes: Larissa totally missed a bearded Shawn Ashmore as Iceman and Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde. And Bishop! The story seems to suggest that a softer Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Prof. X (Patrick Stewart) want Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to head to the past to restore hope to our formerly merry band of mutants. Younger Xavier (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) appear to be caught in something of a civil rights mutant war, which. says Magneto, needs to be stopped before it begins.

I'm guessing Jennifer Lawrence, who has become a national treasure, will have a beefed up role as Mystique. What we don't see are the Sentinels, but we know they're there. What else are we missing? We saw future Warpath, Havoc, Storm (Halle Berry) maybe Blink, an angry blue Beast? Richard Nixon! There were cool future apocalyptic, vest-heavy costumes. And Wolvie definitely slashes into some '70s dude. I expect lots of mutant deaths in this one, even if they are then undone by erasing the future. Overall, this looks good and gut-wrenching.
