Just in time for Halloween, a follow up to 2014's
Just in time for Halloween, a follow up to 2014's Ouija gets some spooky origin action. But it's just a game, right?

Universal Pictures just released an official trailer for Ouija: Origin of Evil and something tells me little Doris is not into something good. It's got a cool 60s vibe and definitely looks creepy, so check it out below and let us know what you think. The film is scheduled for release on October 21.

From Universal:
It was never just a game. Inviting audiences again into the lore of the spirit board, Ouija: Origin of Evil tells a terrifying new tale as the follow-up to 2014’s sleeper hit that opened at number one. In 1965 Los Angeles, a widowed mother and her two daughters add a new stunt to bolster their séance scam business and unwittingly invite authentic evil into their home. When the youngest daughter is overtaken by the merciless spirit, this small family confronts unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side.

Ouija: Origin of Evil is produced by Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Purge series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (The Purge and Insidious series), alongside Hasbro’s Brian Goldner (Transformers and G.I. Joe series) and Stephen Davis (Ouija). Mike Flanagan directs from a screenplay he wrote with his Oculus and Before I Wake collaborator, Jeff Howard, and Universal will distribute the film worldwide.

'Ouija 2' Will Possess Theaters in October of 2016

Whether you favored the 2014 film Ouija or you didn't, a sequel is on the way. According to Deadline, Ouija 2 is coming and Universal has set October 21, 2016 as the release date.

Deadline reports, "Ouija 2 picks up with a group of unsuspecting friends who must confront their most terrifying fears when they unleash an evil from the other side that only they can send back. Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, Blumhouse Prods’ Jason Blum, Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis are again on board as producers."

I got to spend last weekend in Baltimore at OuijaCon surrounded by beautiful boards and one point about the first film was made by one of the movie's consultants, Robert Murch. I'm broadly paraphrasing here but he mentioned during a panel that despite what you thought of Ouija, if the film encouraged the board's use, scaring the crap out of kids during slumber parties and more attention is given to the Ouija board, it's all good.

The first film grossed $50.8 million domestically and $100 million worldwide. We'll keep you posted on any new details about the sequel.

Horror-Themed Game Show 'Hellevator' Coming to GSN

It looks like a horror-themed game show is in development over at GSN, according to Deadline. Thanks to Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions (Insidious, The Purge), Matador and GSN wanting to expand their programming, "Hellevator" is slated to be added to their competitive roster in 2015. They are also developing a show called "Steampunk’d" which is based on the "popular genre of science fiction and fantasy that fuses modern technology and Victorian Age aesthetics to turn everyday objects into works of art."

Deadline offers the following descriptions of both programs:

"Hellevator"

The horror-themed game show Hellevator features contestants entering a dark, mysterious warehouse – via an ominous-looking elevator – where they will compete in a series of scary, suspenseful and emotionally exhausting challenges. Only the survivors will make it out as winners. Hellevator is produced by Matador and Blumhouse Productions in association with Lionsgate Television. Matador’s Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin executive produce. Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (“Paranormal Activity,” “The Purge,” “Insidious” and “Sinister” franchises), who won a 2014 Emmy® Award for “The Normal Heart,” also executive produces.

"Steampunk'd"

Steampunk’d is a wildly creative competition series featuring talented artists, designers and inventors who create “Steampunk,” a popular genre of science fiction and fantasy that fuses modern technology and Victorian Age aesthetics to turn everyday objects into works of art. Contestants will be challenged to marry objects from the past and present in order to create futuristic designs and inventions. Dramatic reveals each week will build to a grand finale of a fully Steampunk’d world, so get ready for “before” and “after” like none you’ve ever seen before! Steampunk’d is executive produced by Kimberly Belcher Ehrhard, John Ehrhard (“Hogan Knows Best,” “Miami Social”) and Lauren Stevens of Pink Sneakers Productions.

So what do you guys think of these ideas? Could they work? We'll keep you posted on when the shows will air.

Bella Thorne Set to Star in New “Amityville” Movie

According to Yahoo’s “The Wrap”, Disney Channel star Bella Thorne is set to star in the new “Amityville” movie for Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions.

The horror flick will also star Jennifer Jason Leigh. Originally, the movie was set to film through a found footage angle, but the idea was dropped after falling out of favor with horror fans. Currently, the storyline revolves around a single mother (Leigh), that moves into the house with her three children, seemingly unaware of the homes dark history.

Directed by Franck Khalfoun ("Maniac"), the film was co-written by Casey La Scala and Daniel Farrands, with Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions is expected to produce. Audiences can expect to see the film hit theaters on January 2, 2015.
