Details Revealed on the 'Goosebumps' Movie

Readers beware, you're in for a scare! Fans of the YA horror anthology are getting an early Halloween treat, as details of the upcoming "Goosebumps" movie have been revealed. The plot has been outlined in a press release, and it sounds absolutely (and delightfully) crazy!

In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach's comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it's suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

The meta-plotted movie will be directed by Rob Letterman, with a screenplay by Darren Lemke and Mike White, and a story by "1408" scribes Lemke, Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander. Filming began earlier this week in Georgia (Conyers, Madison and Atlanta) with a release scheduled for March 23, 2016.

'Ghost Ghirls' gets premiere date

Are you ready to get ghirly? After talking about it for some time, and after they've made appearances at San Diego Comic-Con and South by Southwest, Jack Black's Ghost Ghirls has finally received a premiere date of Sept. 9 on Yahoo Screen.

Co-created by and starring Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci, Ghost Ghirls is a paranormal Web comedy executive produced by Black and directed by co-creator Jeremy Konner (Drunk History). As we've previously reported, the show follows besties and aspiring ghost hunters friends Heidi (Lund) and Angelica (Blasucci) who seek evidence of the paranormal. The 12-episode show, which will premiere with every episode available for viewing was co-produced by Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite and Shine America.

Ghost Ghirls will also feature guest stars including Black, Kyle Gass, Molly Shannon, Val Kilmer, Dave Grohl, Jason Ritter and Jason Schwartzman.

Jack Black brings 'Ghost Ghirls' to Comic-Con

If you’re a regular reader of our site, you know we’ve mentioned the new Yahoo! Web comedy series . Now we’re learning that, for the first time since 2005, Jack Black will attend San Diego Comic-Con to promote the 12-episode series.

Black is not only one of the many cool guest stars of Ghost Ghirls but also a producer. Co-created and starring Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci as bumbling paranormal investigators, Heidi and Angelica, the series takes a lighter look at the ghost hunting phenomenon.

The series will debut this fall as part of Yahoo!'s Fall Comedy Lineup and also features such big names as Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, Val Kilmer, and Molly Shannon.

The SDCC panel will be on July 18 from 1-2 p.m. in the Indigo Ballroom at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel. Fans will not only get to engage with the panelists through a Q&A but they’ll also get to screen an exclusive preview before it airs.

Ghost Ghirls is directed by “Drunk History’s” Jeremy Konner and co-produced by Jack Black’s Electric Dynamite with Priyanka Mattoo and Shine America.

According to Black, “We heard that Comic-Con is haunted. Never fear, The Ghost Ghirls are on the way!”

Black and Kilmer on 'Ghost Ghirls'

In January, we reported on a paranormal spoof program called Ghost Ghirls that executive producer Jack Black was hell-bent on getting made.

Quick refresher, Ghost Ghirls is a Yahoo Screen Web comedy that follows the para-antics of two air-head ghost hunters played by co-creators of the show Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci. The show boasts several guest stars, including the recently announced, Val Kilmer.

According to EW.com it not only looks like the show is a definite, but Jack Black and his Tenacious D band mate, Kyle Gass, will be putting on a concert in Austin, TX to promote the series. The concert and a screening party will be on March 13 at YAHOO!’s SXSW venue.

According to a statement from Black, "There is no better to unleash the beast that is Ghost Ghirls on an unsuspecting audience."

"Austin knows how to rock, and how how to party, and how to marvel at the supernatural forces that inhabit our world. I’m so proud of this show, and I will be there with bells on, to bask in the glory."

The Web series premieres this summer.

Jack Black's 'Ghost Ghirls' parodies 'Ghost Hunters'

Back in November of 2011, Deadline.com reported on the possibility of a spoof on Syfy’s long-running hit Ghost Hunters.

Ghost Ghirls (extra "H" in girls for emphasis), executive produced by comedian, Jack Black and created by Jeremy Konner, Amanda Lund and Maria Blasucci revolved around two pretty and seemingly incompetent  ghostbusting gals  whose mission is to tackle the paranormal with a comedic twist.

Syfy, however, did not pick up the half-hour pilot.

Well Mr. Black was not going to be stopped, and his production company, Electric Dynamite and Shine America, sold 12, 10-minute webisodes of Ghost Ghirls to Yahoo Screen this spring.

The series will boast celebrity guest stars Molly Shannon, Jake Johnson (New Girls), Jason Schwartzman and Black himself, who told The Hollywood Reporter, "Ghost Ghirls is the funniest idea for a TV show that we've seen since I've been in the business."
