'Ghost Hunters' Returns With Four Halloween Episodes

Celebrating its ninth anniversary this month, the Syfy paranormal investigative show "Ghost Hunters" (and the network's longest-running unscripted series) gets in the Halloween mood with four all-new eps, starting Wednesday, October 9 at 9 PM ET/PT.

According to Syfy, the October 9 episode titled "Undying Love" has Jason Hawes and the TAPS team heading to called to Monticello, Ark., for a private residence case at the Allen Mansion, where a "secret love story ... ended with a tragic suicide." Then, on October 16, they investigate Rendall Building in Shreveport, La., and are off to the Pennsylvania Asylum and Testing Lab in Scott Township, Penn., and the Surf Hotel on Block Island, R.I., on October 23. Finally, on October 30 -- All Hallow's Eve eve -- the team is "confronted with threatening paranormal activity at Cooperstown, NY’s Hyde Hall."

Of course, the "Ghost Hunters" episodes are part of Syfy's month-long 31 Days Of Halloween programming, which also includes original horror movies “Zombie Night,” Scarecrow,” and “Grave Halloween;" Halloween-themed episodes of “Naked Vegas” (October 29) and series marathons of “Being Human” (October 18), “Scare Tactics” (October 28), “Friday the 13th: The Series” (October 11), “Ghost Whisperer” (October 10) and “Forever Knight” (October 4).

Monsters & Nerds (And Paranormal) Take Over Syfy This Fall

You want mutated monsters this Halloween Season? You got it. Want shows dedicated to nerdy and sometimes odd subcultures? Done. How about the fourth season of a show that's really hit its stride? Say no more. And ghost hunting paranormal shows? Sure, why not.

Yes folks, regardless of whether we want to admit it or not, the summer season is reaching its end and autumn is on its way. Sure, that might mean less bikinis and pina coladas, but it also means another year of Syfy's frightening fall programming and 31 Days of Halloween.

First up is the premiere of the reality series "Fangasm" (Sept. 24) and "Naked Vegas" (Oct. 29) surrounding super fans and body painting enthusiasts. We also get new seasons of "Ghost Mine" (September 4), "Haven" (September 13), "Ghost Hunters" (October 9) and "Haunted Highway" (November 27), as well as a special "Scare Tactics" marathon (October 21). But if you were hoping for a live "Ghost Hunters" Halloween special, you're out of luck. But, because this is Syfy, the home of the Syfy Original Movie, expect lots of ("Sharknado" worthy?) monsters.

Brazilian TV prank: Scary good or stupid?

If you’ve seen Scare Tactics (http://www.syfy.com/scaretactics/), you’ll appreciate the gag that went down on the Brazilian variety show Programa Silvio Santos.

The prank, simply titled, "Ghost in the Elevator" or "Menina Fantasma no Elevador," incorporates some classically terrifying components, namely, a ghost child and a doll.

Unsuspecting victims enter an elevator and - after some well-timed lighting glitches - a ghoulish little girl clutching a doll appears through a trap door and scares the hell out of them. It has its funny moments, especially when we see how the men react. Many comments over on Gawker.com weren’t too favorable, so we want you to watch the video and let us know your opinion.

'Scare Tactics' sneak peek

As if the ratings boost from the live episode of 30 Rock wasn't enough, Tracy Morgan hosts another all-new Scare Tactics on Monday night.  The synopsis from the clip embedded below is that "a caretaker unintentionally becomes a participant in the exorcism of a demon baby." If you ask me, in the episode "Killing Rosemary's Baby," it would appear it's actually an alien abduction victim who returns to creep out yet another unsuspecting mark.I suppose we have to watch Scare Tactics on Monday at 9 p.m. to find out.
