Tribeca's '31 Days of Horror' Blog Provides Insight Into Horror Favs

Tribeca, New York's premier film festival, will be "exploring the cinematic macabre" with a special blog to celebrate Halloween. For 31 days, the website will feature in-depth looks at some of horror's most well known films and examine one aspect from each.

The first entry on October 1 focused on Wes Craven's "The Last House on the Left" and the scariest shot of the film and what made it so. Next up, they took a look at Rick Baker's magnificent transformation scene from "An American Werewolf in London" and his influence on future films. They even point out the sheer perfection of Dario Argento's "Suspiria" trailer and what makes it so great.

For horror aficionados and non-fans alike, Tribeca's "31 Days of Horror" blog provides a great insight into the genre that we might not normally take into account. First look: 'Grave Encounters 2'

A horror homage of reality paranormal investigative shows like Ghost Adventures, the found-footage flick Grave Encounters was a hit  at the Tribeca Film Festival last year with the trailer becoming a viral hit online (as well as being a success at the Paranormal Pop Culture Film Fest). So it only makes sense for a sequel to return to the Collingwood asylum.

Tribeca passed along the official synopsis for Grave Encounters along with this first look:

While researching the events depicted in the original film and the subsequent disappearance of its lead "actor" Sean Rogerson, Alex Wright received a bizarre video from a mysterious blogger named "DeathAwaits666." Appearing to show Rogerson still alive but trapped inside the Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital from Grave Encounters, Alex and his friends agree to meet the blogger at the infamous hospital in hopes of learning what really happened. To their horror, they quickly find themselves face-to-face with unspeakable evil. Realizing that they must be smarter and faster than Rogerson and his crew to avoid suffering the same fate, they use their knowledge of the original film to do whatever it takes to survive.

The Vicious Brothers' Grave Encounters 2 will be available nationwide on demand Oct. 2 with a theatrical roll out in October.
