'The Black Dahlia Haunting' heading towards DVD, VOD July 1

If you’ve attended a paranormal conference/event in the past year, you might have been lucky enough to view a screening of the acclaimed paranormal thriller The Black Dahlia Haunting.

The film is coming to DVD, Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View on July 1, but Origin Releasing has been cool enough to release a behind-the-scenes clip and you can view it (after the jump).

The film -- which stars Devanny Pinn (Hold Your Breath), Britt Griffith (Syfy's Ghost Hunters), Cleve A. Hall (Syfy's Monster Man), Noah Dahl (Bad Teacher), Alexis Iacono (Blue Caprice), Jessica Cameron (Silent Night), and Sarah Nicklin (The Disco Exorcist) -- takes a notorious murder from history and brings it into modern times with a terrifying twist.

From ghost hunter to movie star? Britt Griffith dives into 'Black Lagoon'

In a new film from Origin Releasing and Dead Sea Films, one of Syfy’s Ghost Hunters tackles a beast that you wouldn’t want to encounter when cooling off this summer.

Britt Griffith will star in Black Lagoon and join cast members that include Monster Man Cleve Hall, as well as Alexis Iacono, Devanny Pinn, Chanel Ryan and director Brandon Slagle.

The synopsis is featured over at Dread Central explains that "A marine biologist is assigned to investigate the mysterious deaths of marine life in an inland saltwater lake; when she arrives, she discovers the town’s dark secret – an ancient legend that may in fact be real…"

Of course, this isn’t Britt’s first endeavor into horror. Along with castmates Pinn and Iacono, and director Slagle, Griffith killed it in last year’s The Black Dahlia Haunting which recently found distribution with JY Entertainment (China), Origin Releasing (United States and Canada) and Phoenix Group Releasing (international). The film nabbed Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Monster at Hollywood's Shockfest last November.

Stay tuned for further Lagoon developments. And Griffith is back for more Ghost Hunters when the show returns June 12, 9 p.m.

Guillermo del Toro joins forces with 'Ghost Hunters' for 'Mama'

According to a new press release from Syfy, the network's longest running reality series is kicking off its ninth season with two Hollywood investigations - and they'll be receiving some social media help from a paranormal pop culture director as well.

In the Jan. 16 episode, airing tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET, Ghost Hunters investigate the Sowden House, where Elizabeth Short (aka "The Black Dahlia,") was gruesomely murdered. They'll also be heading to Madame Tussauds Hollywood. Also worth mentioning is the fact that ghost hunter Britt Griffith was one of the lead actor's in the horror movie, The Black Dahlia Haunting - so that's a pretty cool synchronicity.

Then, at 10 p.m., Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) will take over the @GhostHunters Twitter account for a live Q&A about Mama, the supernatural horror opening Friday which he produces.

Says the release:
Universal Pictures serves as the presenting on-air sponsor of the Ghost Hunters season premiere, showcasing the upcoming theatrical release of Mama. The film’s executive producer, Guillermo del Toro, will bring the Syfy audience exclusive content on Mama through a series of hosted wraps. These will lead up to an exclusive Premiere Imagination clip which will air during the premiere of Syfy’s latest original series, Ghost Mine, at 10 PM ET/PT.
So tomorrow sounds like a big night for the GH gang. But if you think this is the first time del Toro and  TAPS have interacted, you'd be wrong. Just take a look at the clip below for a refresher when a really big paranormal investigator meets the plumbers.

'Ghost Hunters' meets Funny or Die

Britt Griffith of Ghost Hunters has arrived on the Funny or Die scene with this video also starring zombie hunters Chandler and Anthony. It's silly and contains three of our favorite pop culture elements - ghosts, zombies and ... well, one other thing you'll have to watch to see.

'Ghost Hunter' Britt Griffith Fired: A response

You may have heard about it here, but Britt Griffith is no longer with Ghost Hunters on Syfy. The situation was over derogatory words he used in an interview (which I won't repeat and don't condone). The interview was first reported on at Examiner.com.

To be honest, I've heard rumors about this for days now and remained silent. A decision I made in the interests of allowing the man to release the news in his own time perhaps reveals me to be delinquent in my reporting duties.

See, I know Griffith personally, and live and work closely with members of the homosexual community. So any way I look at this, I cannot be subjective about this topic.

I vehemently disagree with his word choice and sentiments. With that said, I don't think Griffith is a bad guy, but a good guy who said some bad things that - based on conversations with the man - I do not believe accurately reflect his thoughts.

Beyond that, this site will not opine on the matter or on Syfy's decision. However, I do hope one potential positive outcome of this situation is that, as a nation, we will continue to discuss diversity, tolerance and the power of language.
