Official Trailer for Found Footage Horror Film, 'V/H/S Viral'

Courtesy Bloody Disgusting
Found footage horror films are fairly common these days so what's one more...especially one that brings the gore and jump scares? The official trailer for the third installment of the "V/H/S" franchise has just been released and we have the trailer for you to check out.

Directed and written by Justin Benson, Gregg Bishop, "V/H/S Viral" focuses upon what many teens and hell, adults for that matter, weirdly strive for in this day and age; the desire to capture the next viral video. Only this time, the teens find out they're the stars of the latest internet sensation. Madness, mayhem and blood spatter ensue...or at least that's what we could glean from the choppy footage. Fingers crossed all of these bits and pieces come together to form one kick ass horror movie.

The film stars Carrie Keagan, Justin Welborn, Jessica Luza and will be released this fall via Magnet Releasing.

Unidentified Cryptid Filmed in Oregon

According to some footage from YouTube channel Audio Color World, it appears that video evidence of Bigfoot-esque creature, the Pacific Northwest's most elusive cryptid, has been captured.

The footage shows a strange, almost human-like figure, crouching amongst some bushes on the side of the road. For two and a half minutes, the camera focuses on the creature as it forages around in the plants. Aside from the alleged filming location of Oregon, there isn't any other information to go along with the clip.

Despite the relatively clear view of the mysterious beast, the footage appears to be computer generated, as evidenced by the fluidity of the movement. The lack of footage leading up to or following the event are also suspect, leading many to believe this is part of an unnamed viral marketing campaign or an elaborate hoax. Watch the clip and let us know what you think in the comments.

Rumors About Friday The 13th Found Footage Persist

Sequel rumors to 2009’s Friday the 13th remake have been rumbling around for a few years now but news bubbled up via  Shock Til' You Drop that Paramount is looking to make the next Jason film found footage.

Of course, Paramount has the Jason franchise rights after Warner Bros. gave it back to them (in exchange for a 50/50 split on Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar). So now that the studio is back under one roof, they may want to make a go of it before 2015.

The found footage news isn't completely news but it's still being toyed with. It is an interesting idea, but would it actually work? Think about films like "Cloverfield" or "Blair Witch." Those films hide or obscure the monster behind debris, background or disorient you from fully viewing it with a shaky camera. Jason could be done that way. Why not? A filmmaker clever enough could possibly make it frightening and interesting.

This is all a rumor, of course, so nothing is set in stone just yet. A sequel is definitely going to happen, but we’ll let you know exactly what kind when we hear.

Plot details for found footage ghost flick 'Exhibit X'

The scary good folks over at Dread Central went live with the following trailer and press release for 2013 movie Exhibit X. The plot revolves around a party thrown at a haunted house meant to generate publicity for a brand of vodka.

Of course, the plan works better than expected. Read a fake news report for the movie after the jump.

Second 'Apollo 18' trailer hits

This second trailer for the found footage alien horror flick Apollo 18 looks much better. The emptiness of space makes for a great setting where only a couple people would be around, and a camera would legitimately left abandoned if anything happened to a crew of astronauts.

This is one to watch. Apollo 18 premieres Sept. 2.
