Josh Gates To Star In New Travel Channel Series

As first reported by Variety, Josh Gates is returning to television, and this time with the Travel Channel.

The Syfy stalwart who had hosted paranormal adventure series "Destination Truth," as well as the network's "Ghost Hunters Live," and served as a frequent Syfy emcee, will appear in "Expedition Unknown," which examines locations connected to "iconic mysteries." But this isn't DT redux, since the sites are more of an exploration of mystery, not the unexplained. Travel has not yet announced airdates for the six-episode series produced by Ping Pond Productions ("Destination Truth," "Finding Bigfoot") but the official synopsis follows:

“Expedition Unknown” (wt) chronicles the adventures of Josh Gates as he investigates iconic mysteries across the globe. Gates begins by interviewing key eyewitnesses and uncovering recent developments in the story, then springboards into a fully immersive exploration. This authentic, roughshod adventure leads Gates closer to the truth behind these unanswered global enigmas, such as the disappearance of Amelia Earhart’s plane. “Expedition Unknown” is greenlit for six one-hour episodes produced by Ping Pong Productions.
