'Game of Thrones' rules with ratings

The raven has delivered some excellent news for a change. The ratings for Sunday night’s Season Two premiere of the HBO medieval fantasy series, Game of Thrones proved to be a series-best according to Variety. Nielsen estimates that the season opened with 3.86 million viewers, beating out it’s Season One premiere which garnered 3.04 million viewers. Not bad for a show on a premium channel, don’t you think? Even additional Sunday airings at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. brought in an extra 2.42 million viewers, for a total of over 6 million viewers.

If you were watching along with Twitter, you were probably aware that the trending topics reflected the popularity of this epic series, such as Cersei’s (Lena Headey) ominous utterance, "Power is power." In fact, people merely checking in to the popular social networking site, Get Glue, made it crash with approximately 50,000 check-ins on Sunday alone. Let’s keep this trend going!

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays on HBO at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
