Macabre Film Fest joins Parafest

Film festivals showcasing the impressive talent of independent filmmakers are becoming more prevalent these days. We recently reported on the Stanley Film Festival and now we’re happy to announce that Parafest will present The Macabre Faire Film Festival Sept. 6-8, 2013.

Created by TwitchTwitch Productions, which has produced the event elsewhere in the past, the festival will provide the opportunity for filmmakers to enter their projects for public viewing and be judged to win awards and get exposure.

Despite the term "macabre" conjuring up images of extreme gore and horror, the coordinators are quick to point out that entries need not be rife with blood and guts. Films can feature good old fashioned scares, or one that "still manages to reach your fear's core whether it's a terrifying horror movie, a dark natured Sci-Fi, a thriller that has you clawing at your seat and of course let's not forget those fantasy films or comedies with their horror twists."

If you’re interested in submitting a film for consideration, you can download an application. The regular deadline is July 15.

Tickets for Parafest 2013 are available now.
