We learned last month that Paul Rudd would portray Scott Lang in the Edgar Wright-directed 'Ant-Man' and now Marvel Studios has announced that Michael Douglas will play Hank Pym. Pym, also known as Giant-Man (and was previously Ant-Man and the creator of the size altering Pym particles) first appeared in the comic in 1962 and plays a part in inventing the technology that allowed Lang, himself and Eric O'Grady to transform.

According to Marvel's announcement from the studio's president, Kevin Feige, "With Hank Pym’s rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn’t be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life.”

The film's plot and relationship between Lang and Pym is not known at this point in development but we'll keep you posted. Over at IMDB, the description reads, "Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym uses his latest discovery, a group of subatomic particles, to create a size-altering formula. Though his first self-test goes awry, he develops an instrument that helps him communicate with and control insects."

The film is scheduled to be released on July 31, 2015.
