Just when you thought your weather woes were limited to polar vortexes comes news that there is a another storm on the way - and this one bites. Again. Syfy announced today that Sharknado 2: The Second One, will begin filming in New York City February 13 for a July 2014 premiere.

A follow-up to last year's social media phenomena, the sequel about a storm loaded with maneaters will again star Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, reprising their roles as Fin and April.

Once again directed by Anthony Ferrante, based on another Thunder Levin screenplay, the sequel from low-budget film studio The Asylum involves, according to Syfy, a freak weather system that "turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished, iconic sites."

Additionally, The Asylum and Syfy have partnered with casting directors Mike Fenton and Ann Frederick to arrange "cameo casting," so one can expect the sequel to have interesting attacks involving flying fish and chomped celebs.

Of course, the first Sharknado won the Internet last summer when it generated 387 thousand social media mentions (and 5,000 tweets per minute during its airing), including some from Mia Farrow and Wil Wheaton. It then went to be released theatrically, as well as sparking a line of merchandise. But will America consumed by Sharknado fever again?

In response, Paul Bales, COO of The Asylum, said, "Can lightning strike twice? I don't know, but it's a scientific fact that you're more likely to be killed by lightning than by a shark. This film will have lightning and sharks, so that's got to count for something."
