Elijah Wood and Spectrevision to Produce Zombie Film, 'Curse the Darkness'

Elijah Wood and his partners at Spectrevision will be taking on zombies in their next project. Wood, along with Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller will produce the “anthropological zombie film," Curse the Darkness. They are currently in the process of casting the film which The Hollywood Reporter says "will take its cues from purported real-life roots of zombie, which involved chemically-induced slavery widely practiced by plantation owners around the Haitian Revolution of 1803."

Filming is to begin on October 27 in Louisiana and according to the film's producers, Curse the Darkness is "set against the modern day backdrop of undocumented workers laboring in the Louisiana sugarcane fields, the story is a terrifying look at the systematic exploitation of the labor force by large corporate entities, as well as a portrait of the plight of undocumented workers in the United States.” Jorge Michel Grau (The ABCs of Death) will be directing Brandon Maurice Williams' screenplay.

Elijah Wood gave the statement, “We always said we wanted to stay away from the zombie genre, as it’s been so well covered, but when we read Brandon’s script, we encountered a take on the genre that simply had to be realized. Curse the Darkness is both a chilling exercise in horror and an incisive polemic against the conditions of illegal immigrants in this country.”

'Maniac' trailer slashes through UK

This March 15, England will be treated to what could possibly be the greatest remake and also the most disturbing horror film, Maniac.

So what's Maniac about? Oh, only about a serial killer (Elijah Wood) who lives in a mannequin factory and has a fetish for scalps! Well if it sounds terrifying, check out this trailer, filled with praises from the critics.

This is one remake looking to be just as great as the 1981 classic, if not better!
