Extended Sneak Peek at 'Sharknado 2: The Second One'

Are you counting down until July 30 for Syfy's premiere of The Asylum's "Sharknado 2: The Second One?" Of course you are! Here's a juicy three-minute clip to hold you over until then. Somehow, a nado full of sharks manage to get into the NYC subway system but never fear, Judah Friedlander (who makes a funny comment about hipsters) and Ian Ziering will save the day.

Don't forget, Syfy is holding their own version of Shark Week (Sharknado Week!) from July 26 to August 1! Click here for all the details.

"Sharknado 2" synopsis:
In Sharknado 2: The Second One, the sequel to last summer’s global pop culture sensation, a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a Sharknado on the population and its most cherished iconic sites – and only Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) can save the Big Apple. The movie, directed by Anthony C. Ferrante from a screenplay by Thunder Levin, also stars Mark McGrath, Kari Wuhrer, Vivica A. Fox and Judah Friedlander, with cameo appearances including Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, Perez Hilton, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Andy Dick, Robert Klein, Sandra “Pepa” Denton, Biz Markie, Downtown Julie Brown, Richard Kind and Kurt Angle, among others. Sharknado 2: The Second One is a production of The Asylum.

'Sharknado 2: The Second One' Adds Cast Members

Just when you thought it was safe... "Sharknado 2: The Second One" unleashes casting news on the masses! Deadline is reporting that the Syfy original pop-cult classic will be going into production next week, and the growing victim, er, cast list, is pretty phenomenal. Ian Ziering and Tara Reid return as Fin and April (this time as Sharknado experts) which comes in handy as they are faced with the unnatural disaster in New York City.

Joining these two majestic creatures is a bevy of equally fantastic actors, including Vivica A. Fox (Fin's high school chum), Mark McGrath (Fin's brother-in-law), Kelly Osbourne (a flight attendant), Judah Friedlander (Brian), Andy Dick (a police officer) and Judd Hirsch (a TAXI driver).

Judah Friedlander Hosts 'The Monster Project' on Nat Geo

Adding to the plethora of paranormal programming this month is a three-part special airing on the National Geographic Channel called “The Monster Project.” Hosted by actor/comedian and World Champion, Judah Friedlander (“30 Rock”), the first episode airs at 8 p.m. on October 26 and explores the legend of the Jersey Devil. The Chupacabra and America's Loch Ness Monster also get their turn at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The main mission of the specials is to delve deeper into the history/legends surrounding these cryptids and to look for scientific evidence of their existence. Through eye-witness accounts and the input of experts, their destination is proof.

Sound familiar? There are obviously quite a few shows that have been done on this subject but this special has a twist. Friedlander’s hosting and commentary throughout is quite entertaining and I found myself genuinely laughing out loud.

I had the pleasure of viewing the Jersey Devil episode that airs on October 26. In case you’re not familiar with the folklore, the Jersey Devil is said to be the cursed 13th child of Jane “Mother” Leeds. Born in February of 1735, the fearsome creature has the torso of a man, the head of a horse, the feet of a goat, a long serpentine tail and the wings of a bat. He roams the vast Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey and many residents have claimed to see him.
