Supernatural Slasher Film, 'Paranormal Island' Available on DVD and Digital HD September 1

It's a bar in the middle of a lake!

Oh yeah and...it's very, very haunted.

Claiming that "Nothing good happens after closing," the Lance Henriksen/Briana Evigan slasher film, Paranormal Island is being released on DVD and Digital HD on September 1 from Cinedigm and VMI. Touted as Paranormal Activity meets Evil Dead, Paranormal Island marks the directorial debut of Marty Murray and in addition to Henriksen and Evigan, features Randy Wayne and Ben Elliot.

Synopsis:
When three college kids take a summer job it’s a chance of a lifetime to bartend at a bar in the middle of a lake! The bar has been around for over a hundred years and is presumed by many locals to be haunted, after the owner killed himself many years before. Unfortunately they miss the last boat off the island and are stuck trying to find a way off. As darkness falls, they quickly realize things are very different after hours as they are hunted by the paranormal caretaker.

Fox Celebrates 35th Anniversary of "Alien" with Release of First Ever Ellen Ripley Action Figure

For 35 years now, "Alien" has been a cross-genre fan favorite franchise. To commemorate this sci-fi horror film's anniversary, Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and toy gurus, NECA, are making Lieutenant Ellen Ripley into the action figure she deserves to be for the first time ever. The action figure will feature the likeness of Sigourney Weaver, the Oscar Nominated actress that brought the bad-ass monster fighting Ripley to life.

Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products, spoke on the commemoration by saying “As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of one of the most successful film franchises of all time, we are thrilled to introduce an array of commemorative products across different categories in partnership with iconic brands including NECA, SEGA and many more[...] In addition to the highly anticipated release of Alien: Isolation™, hardcore fans can finally add Lieutenant Ellen Ripley to their ALIEN collections as we welcome her NECA figures into the family of officially-licensed merchandise. Many other exciting first-time and limited edition products will also release to celebrate this exciting milestone this year.”

Game over: 'Aliens: Colonial Marines' canceled for Wii U

Despite the involvement of kick-ass actor Lance Henriksen reprising his role as Bishop, Aliens: Colonial Marines failed to please fans and even failed to represent the game it was advertising at expos and conventions.

In fact, game publisher Sega was forced to add disclaimers to their trailers, indicating that the trailers did not depict footage from actual gameplay, but that of demos. So with no release date in sight, the Wii U version of Aliens: Colonial Marines has officially been canceled.

In a statement to IGN a Sega rep that said, "SEGA can confirm that the Wii U sku of Aliens: Colonial Marines is no longer in development."

It’s unclear whether or not it was canceled because of compatibility issues with the Wii U’s gamepad or because of poor reviews and sales. Either way, it’s a bummer.

Lance Henriksen on returning as 'Aliens' Bishop, comics, real alien encounters

Whether you know him from Aliens, Millennium, The Terminator, Pumpkinhead or numerous other movies, you know Lance Henriksen. The intense actor with a grave voice is a genre favorite, and he's back with a new comic book from Dark Horse Comics, and is again portraying the android Bishop in the new video game Aliens: Colonial Marines, which picks up after 1986's Aliens.

The game itself, which was released last week and the reviews have not been kind for the first-person shooter supposed to fit within Alien canon. But the return of Henriksen as a video game version of himself is something nerds need to behold. It's like the man who played the machine is now back in the machine.

And even if the game isn't faring well, Henriksen is also the creative voice behind To Hell You Ride, a horror comic miniseries about a curse in a small town that involves Native American burial grounds and a group of warrior's quest for revenge. Written with Joseph Maddrey (who also co-wrote the actor's biography Not Bad for a Human), Henriksen's nonlinear plot is captivating, disturbing and just simply kick-ass storytelling with excellent art by Tom Mandrake.

Henriksen joined me a couple months back at New York Comic-Con to discuss his return to Bishop and his work on the comic, but he also revealed thoughts about the Mayan 2012 predictions (which we know how that turned out); what has attracted him to so many supernatural roles; whether actors will be replaced by video games images or androids; and he even tell a bizarre story about his own real encounter with an alien.
