AMC's New Streaming Movie Service, YEAH! Launches on the iPad

AMC Networks has just launched a new app for the iPad that allows you to stream your favorite movies. Available in the App Store on iTunes called YEAH!, this is "the first fully-immersive movie experience available on the iPad making for a rich and highly interactive movie-viewing experience for celebrated films." Their campaign for the launch features Michael Rooker from "The Walking Dead" and its really a fun "anti-social holiday campaign" for the new product and explains it better than any of us can. Hint...he compares in-laws to zombies so be sure to watch.

According to the release, "YEAH! is a unique storytelling medium that goes beyond mere trivia to weave intimate moments and commentary from a who’s who of creators and stars into a narrative about the making of and continued appreciation of iconic films." Sounds fancy, right? Well director Richard Linklater ("Dazed and Confused," "Before Midnight") best sums it up as "a film geek paradise."

The app launches on December 19 and the campaign will "culminate in a YEAH!-sponsored New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day marathon of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC, from December 31 at 9 AM (ET/PT) – January 2 at 5 AM (ET/PT)."

YEAH! is getting very high praise including saying it's "..better than any Blu-ray presentation we've ever seen" (Badass Digest) and “in short, it’s possibly the best movie watching experience anywhere” (Shock Ya). IGN even said, “even the most hardened film fans might learn something new about the films they love.” Oh yeah and legendary filmmaker Wes Craven was quoted as saying, “I learned things about my movies even I didn’t know!”

The app is free but then you're able to rent movies for a fee for a set period of time.  I downloaded the app and was pleased at the selection that included not only the film, but extras on some favs including; "The Shining," "Reservoir Dogs," "A Nightmare on Elm Street," "Pulp Fiction," and "Caddyshack." They even broke down the films into collections including, "Bad Business," "Dark Futures," "Essential Horror" and many more.  Let us know if you try it out and what you think.

'Mythbusters' Zombie Episode Airs on October 17

An exclusive over at TVline.com has revealed that the Discovery Channel series “Mythbusters” will air their special zombie episode this October 17 at 10 p.m. ET.

They also provided a very cool pic containing not only zombies but special guests. We reported on this episode all the way back in January and are thrilled we finally have a date.

The episode should prove to be quite informative and will include an appearance by “The Walking Dead” cast member, Michael Rooker (we miss you already, Merle) and executive producer, Greg Nicotero.

According to TVline, “...the Oct. 17 installment will take on the kind of zombie-apocalyptic queries Rick’s gang often encounters. These include: 'Are axes or guns more effective at dispatching the undead?' and 'How do those shuffling corpses always seem to catch up to their living prey?'"

'Guardians of the Galaxy' cast expands

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy already has a pretty cool roster, including newly added Walking Dead fave, Michael Rooker. Rooker will play an alien named Yondu who ironically, like his TV brother, enjoys using a bow and arrow.

The James Gunn-directed Disney space adventure film that pits alien superheroes against an evil alien race, stars Chris Pratt as Star Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora and WWE’s Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, they also added Ophelia Lovibond for a supporting role. You want more details about the role? Well, those are being kept hidden.

The Wrap reported that Lee Pace (The Hobbit, Pushing Daisies) is in final negotiations to play the villain but these details are being kept hidden as well. What’s with all the secrets, Disney?

Production is scheduled to begin this June, and fans can expect a August 1, 2014 release date

'Walking Dead' leftovers: Lingering questions with the cast

With tonight's midseason finale of The Walking Dead, fans are expecting showdowns between The Governor and Rick, Merle and Daryl, Michonne and Andrea, etc. Both the living and dead will likely be mutilated and beaten up pretty bad, and at the end of the hour, more questions will be left over.
