AMC's Dead, White and Blue Weekend Includes a 'The Walking Dead' Marathon and Peek at Season Five

This Independence Day offers several options for indoor fun, especially if the weather ends up being apocalyptic. Starting at 9 a.m. ET on July 4, AMC’s Dead, White and Blue Weekend begin and feature the first four seasons of "The Walking Dead." The marathon will lead up to the Season Five "Talking Dead" Preview Special on Sun. July 6th at 9 p.m. ET. Hosted by Chris Hardwick, the special will feature "The Walking Dead" showrunner and executive producer Scott M. Gimple and actress Aisha Tyler. Might we suggest dressing up like Terminus resident "Mary" when you do your barbecuing? Ya know, just to freak out your fellow TWD fans?

Frank Darabont Sues Over 'Walking Dead' Profits

We all know that "The Walking Dead" is one of the most successful television shows today and its developer, Frank Darabont, wants his piece of the action. To this day, he has not received any money as a profit participant and he hopes this changes.

According to Deadline,"...Darabont and his agency CAA filed a lawsuit (click here to read) against AMC, accusing the network in 'self dealing' by setting an unrealistically low license fee for the zombie series it also produces and employing questionable accounting practices thus depriving profit participants of compensation."

Filed on Thursday, December 17,  the complaint also alleges that Darabont was wrongfully fired from the show and should still be credited as an executive producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the suit "directly connects his ouster from the show to AMC's desire to save money." It claims that AMC "fired Darabont without cause shortly before Season 2 aired precisely in order to avoid its contractual obligation to pay him increased profits (which vested fully at the conclusion of Season 2) and to avoid its obligation to negotiate to hire him as showrunner for Season 3."

'The Walking Dead' Sets Ratings Record

Are you surprised that the season four premiere of “The Walking Dead” shattered ratings records? We’re not. AMC has announced that Sunday’s episode, “30 Days Without An Accident” was the highest-rated episode in the series’ history.

The episode brought in 16.1 million total viewers with 10.4 million adults in the coveted aged 18-49 range. The season three finale comes in second place with 12.4 million total viewers, 8.1 million in the 18-49 age range.

“The Talking Dead” also broke records and totaled 5.1 million viewers. These numbers are huge given that the shows competed with some big sporting events.

Given these ratings, we know you can’t wait for season four’s second episode, “Infected” so we’re including a peek. Things started off fairly pleasant in episode one but things have clearly gone down hill real fast. We wouldn't have it any other way.
