Frank Darabont Sues Over 'Walking Dead' Profits

We all know that "The Walking Dead" is one of the most successful television shows today and its developer, Frank Darabont, wants his piece of the action. To this day, he has not received any money as a profit participant and he hopes this changes.

According to Deadline,"...Darabont and his agency CAA filed a lawsuit (click here to read) against AMC, accusing the network in 'self dealing' by setting an unrealistically low license fee for the zombie series it also produces and employing questionable accounting practices thus depriving profit participants of compensation."

Filed on Thursday, December 17,  the complaint also alleges that Darabont was wrongfully fired from the show and should still be credited as an executive producer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the suit "directly connects his ouster from the show to AMC's desire to save money." It claims that AMC "fired Darabont without cause shortly before Season 2 aired precisely in order to avoid its contractual obligation to pay him increased profits (which vested fully at the conclusion of Season 2) and to avoid its obligation to negotiate to hire him as showrunner for Season 3."

Leaked 'Godzilla' Teaser Trailer Available Again...For Now

The teaser trailer for next summer's "Godzilla" was first shown exclusively at San Diego Comic Con last July and since then, Legendary Pictures has been trying to keep the Internet-leaked video away from our prying eyes. Well, it's back and worth a peek before it gets taken down again.

The eerie overlay of the words of "father of the atomic bomb," J.Robert Oppenheimer, set against the massive destruction the giant fire lizard has unleashed, shows the grand scale of this Gareth Edwards-directed film.

The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. A Warner Bros. presentation, "Godzilla" is scheduled to be released in theaters, May 16, 2014.

Frank Darabont talks about his 'Godzilla' script

Though we have to wait more than a year to see the Godzilla reboot in theaters, we’re hearing a lot of great details already.

We reported earlier that former Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont was rewriting and finalizing the film’s script for Legendary Pictures. But he recently sat down with Being Human’s Sam Witwer and movie poster artist, Drew Struzan over at io9 and assured us he wants the monster to be "a terrifying force of nature."

Here is what else Darabont said when asked about Godzilla’s origins as an allegory for the atom bomb and if he wants to restore that significance to the franchise:

‘Walking Dead’ man: Three days before Frank Darabont was fired

As good as Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comic book zombie series has been, it was Frank Darabont who brought the show about living with the undead to life.

The mastermind behind The Mist and The Green Mile, The Walking Dead showrunner – who also directed the pilot episode of Dead – adapted the comics into a compelling drama that drew 5.3 million viewers for the premiere on AMC and grew into six million for the finale.

The Walking Dead brought zombies into a high quality class of entertainment, and when asked about why that is, producer and makeup effects master Greg Nicotero (of KNB EFX Group) said simply, “That’s because of Frank.”

Which is why it was so shocking when Darabont was replaced as showrunner on July 26 by AMC. The Hollywood Reporter writes Darabont was fired during a one-day visit by AMC execs to the Dead set. The firing was the latest in some very unpopular moves by the network of Mad Men and Breaking Bad, which has riled fans and Hollywood creators alike. There are currently a lot of rumblings within the Dead army about the future of the show.

But when ParanormalPopCulture.com spoke with Darabont and Nicotero about Season Two of The Walking Dead on July 23 at San Diego Comic-Con International, he didn’t seem to be aware of his fate. In fact, we found two guys enthusiastic about their new season who wanted to offer juicy tidbits and fun anecdotes about the show – including some info on zombie Easter Eggs that call out Jaws (Nicotero’s favorite movie), Evil Dead, Jon Hamm and Christina Hendricks (from Mad Men) and others.
