'Godzilla' Teaser Rampages Onto The Web

Legendary Pictures has finally released the teaser trailer for next summer's, "Godzilla" and well, it looks huge. Watch the trailer and let us know if you're looking forward to seeing this "spectacular adventure" that will be in theaters May 16, 2014.

The official synopsis:

An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world's most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Gareth Edwards directs “Godzilla,” which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (“Kick-Ass”), Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe (“The Last Samurai,” “Inception”), Elizabeth Olsen (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”), Oscar® winner Juliette Binoche (“The English Patient,” “Cosmopolis”), and Sally Hawkins (“Blue Jasmine”), with Oscar® nominee David Strathairn (“Good Night, and Good Luck.,” “The Bourne Legacy”) and Bryan Cranston (“Argo,” TV’s “Breaking Bad”). Edwards directs from a screenplay by Max Borenstein, story by David Callaham, based on the character “Godzilla” owned and created by TOHO CO., LTD. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing with Mary Parent and Brian Rogers.

Leaked 'Godzilla' Teaser Trailer Available Again...For Now

The teaser trailer for next summer's "Godzilla" was first shown exclusively at San Diego Comic Con last July and since then, Legendary Pictures has been trying to keep the Internet-leaked video away from our prying eyes. Well, it's back and worth a peek before it gets taken down again.

The eerie overlay of the words of "father of the atomic bomb," J.Robert Oppenheimer, set against the massive destruction the giant fire lizard has unleashed, shows the grand scale of this Gareth Edwards-directed film.

The film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn. The screenplay is by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont, and Dave Callaham. A Warner Bros. presentation, "Godzilla" is scheduled to be released in theaters, May 16, 2014.

Casting, story news ramps up 'Godzilla' rampage

Summer 2014 is expected to be monstrous when it comes to what we’ll be seeing in the movie theaters. Films like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Transformers 4, and The Hobbit: There and Back Again are scheduled for release. But how will they stand up to the king of all monsters Godzilla.

As was announced with a surprise teaser at Comic-Con, the Japanese thunder lizard is coming back to theaters with Gareth Edwards directing the reboot. Its official release date is May 16, 2014, and thanks to an exclusive over at Deadline.com, we’ve learned that Aaron Taylor-Johnson from Kick Ass and Kick Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is slated to get the human lead in the Legendary Pictures film.

According to the site, Johnson "won’t make a final decision on whether or not to take the offer until he sees the final polish that Frank Darabont is writing based on the Max Borenstein script." Fans of the AMC series, The Walking Dead may recognize Darabont as the one of it’s creators and controversially fired showrunners. Darabont was replaced by Glen Mazzara (who was also just controversially fired from the show).

There seems to be much controversy surrounding who will be on the Godzilla production team, but it looks like Mary Parent (Pacific Rim) is just about done finalizing a deal to be on board.

According to Movienewz.com, "The reboot will pay respects to the 1954 original about a fire-breathing monster, mutated due to atomic radiation exposure, that wreaked devastation on Japan but then defended the nation in later films from attacks by other monsters. The reboot promises to be a more 'realistic' and 'serious' nontraditional sci-fi take on Godzilla."
