'Vampire Academy' Memo: V-Day Sucks! Now in Theaters February 7

Back in September, we posted the trailer and a little bit of info on the new vamp film, "Vampire Academy" and how it's scheduled to be released on Valentine's Day. Well, according to a recent memo declaring the major suckage of that romantic holiday, the film's release date has been moved to February 7.

Based on author Richelle Mead’s worldwide bestselling series, "Vampire Academy" tells the legend of Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) and Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry), two 17-year-old girls who attend a hidden boarding school for Moroi (mortal, peaceful Vampires) and Dhampirs (half-vampire/half-human guardians). Rose, a rebellious Guardian-in-training and her best friend, Lissa – a royal vampire Princess - have been on the run when they are captured and returned to St.Vladamirs Academy, the very place where they believe their lives may be in most jeopardy. Thrust back into the perils of Moroi Society and high school, Lissa struggles to reclaim her status while Rose trains with her mentor and love-interest, Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky), to guarantee her place as Lissa’s guardian. 'Vampire Academy' Heads to Theaters This February

Valentine’s Day may be a long way off but we wanted to introduce you to a new vampire film that will be out just in time to see with your sweetheart. Released by The Weinstein Company on February 14, “Vampire Academy” is based on the first of six books by Richelle Mead and stars Zoey Deutch (“Beautiful Creatures”) as Rose.

Here is the film’s official IMDB synopsis:
Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human/vampire, guardians of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discretely within our world. Her legacy is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi. This is her story.

Directed by Mark Waters (“Mean Girls”), the film also stars Danila Kozlovsky, Lucy Fry, and Sarah Hyland (“Modern Family”) and looks like “Heathers” meets “Mean Girls” meets well...you decide from the trailer. You can also follow the film on Facebook and Twitter.

'Vampire Academy: Bloodlines' trailer

Entertainment Weekly has an inside dish with a new trailer for Richelle Mead's young adult series Bloodlines, which is a spinoff from her recently-concluded Vampire Academy books. EW also has a four chapter preview for the book, which takes a look at vamps in the real world and outside of school. The book hits shelves and e-stores on Aug. 23.
