Greg Nicotero's Zombie Cameo Tribute on The Walking Dead: A Fan Letter

Nicotero at the Walker Stalker Con via ComicBook.com
ComicBook.com sat down and spoke with "The Walking Dead" producer and makeup guru, Greg Nicotero at the Walker Stalker Con in Chicago. Nicotero, known for his special effects makeup mastery, gave the website some insight on the fun he has behind the scenes when creating certain looks for walkers on the show.

It's no secret that the zombie aficionado will often slip in sly nods to other notable zombie characters, such as the flyboy and plaid shirt zombies from "Dawn of the Dead," saying "I love doing it [...] We’re thinking about all these cool zombies, and they’ll be in there. And none of the producers…no one really knows…I just do it because it’s fun. And I want the fans to be like, ‘Look, look, that was that zombie from that movie.’” He revealed that the most epic nod would be appearing in the season 4 episode, "Us," but refused to give any further details until the episode aired and fans could catch the cameo on their own.

Fast forward to last nights episode, "Us," when Glenn and Tara enter a dark, and seemingly familiar tunnel. A recent cave in has trapped some of the walkers underneath the rubble, but the duo decide to go over and see what lays on the other side. Oh, more walkers, you say? Color me surprised. However, one of them shambles out of the shadows and I find myself ridiculously excited, yelling at my television and scaring the holy hell out of my sister...

'Walker Stalker Con' Returns with Double the Con Fun in 2014

The debut of Georgia based Walker Stalker Con was such a success that they are planning two weekends worth of zombie goodness in 2014! This March 14-16, 2014, the Walker Stalker Con will be hitting Chicago. They'll be returning to Atlanta October 17-19, 2014.

While a Chicago venue has yet to be named, they state on their website that they've leased out four floors at a new location in Atlanta. This means they will have two full exhibition floors, as well as an entire floor dedicated to panels.

It was announced earlier, that Scott Wilson (Hershel) on "The Walking Dead," will be returning to the Atlanta leg of the con. You're not going to want to miss this convention, especially now that you have two chances to attend!

Don't forget to tune into the convention-founding Walker Stalkers podcast, and keep checking back here for up-to-date information.

Andrew Lincoln Added To Walker Stalker Con

There is a sheriff heading to Atlanta this November because Andrew Lincoln from "The Walking Dead" is appearing at Walker Stalker Con.

His first non-San Diego Comic Con event, the man who plays Rick Grimes will appear at the zombie con Nov. 1-3, alongside pretty much the entire living cast (and many of the dead) from "The Walking Dead" as well as horror actors from "Hatchet," "Night of the Living Dead" and more.

Of course, "The Walking Dead" Season Four premieres Oct. 13, and Lincoln will be a huge draw for the con. Of course, Norman Reedus, Greg Nicotero, Danai Gurira, Giancarlo Esposito and a lot, lot more don't hurt either.

The con is still promising two more guest announcements but this is a biggie.

Walker Stalker Con Adds Two Big Names

Not too long ago, we announced that Jim Frazier and Eric Nordhoff of the "Walker Stalker Podcast" would be bringing listeners and zombiphiles the "Walker Stalker Con" this November in Atlanta. At the time of their announcement, the guest list was already pretty impressive, but now they've added two big names.

Joining the con will be Melissa McBride who plays "Carol" on The Walking Dead and crossbow toting Daryl Dixon, Norman Reedus.

The Walker Stalker Con runs (shambles?) from November 1-3 in Atlanta, GA. Get your tickets here before they're gone!
