Scream! Factory Launches 31 Days Of Screams

It only makes sense that the most frightful company in horror would take over this Halloween season. Scream! Factory is bringing you a full October, all 31 days, worth of scares, dedicated to the fans!

Launching a new YouTube channel specifically for this event, Scream! Factory will showcase the genre’s top gurus discussing interesting little factoids about films in the Daily "Bloody Countdown." On the YouTube channel, viewers viewers can subscribe to view exclusive clips and original content, such as Scream’s “Tastemaker Interviews” covering themes by horror film aficionados such as Ryan Turek (Managing Editor, ShockTillYouDrop), Robert Galluzzo (FEARnet, Co-Creator of Icons of Fright, Director of "The Psycho Legacy"), Sean Clark (Host, "Horror’s Hallowed Grounds"), Rebekah McKendry (Marketing Director, "Fangoria") and Brian Collins (Writer, Badass Digest and Horror Movie a Day).

Not only that, but fans are invited to enter the “Year of Fear” contest where one lucky ghoul will win a year’s worth of Scream! Factory DVDs or Blu-rays! Rare 'WNUF Halloween Special' To Be Released On Limited VHS

Back in 1987, local news personality Frank Stewart, along with a team of paranormal researchers and a Catholic exorcist, set out to prove live on-air that the infamous Webber House was in fact haunted. Not only haunted, but possessed by a dark, demonic being. The evidence they captured that night was deemed to shocking for television and it was never replayed on air.

Even if you haven’t seen it, you’ve definitely heard about this. Some of us were just kids and our parents wouldn’t let us watch it. You would hear them talk about it, though and how terrifying it truly was. Keep in mind this was long before the days of YouTube, so something like this was shocking and unheard of. The tapes were supposedly destroyed, but after 26 years, the footage has been found and will be released on VHS to limited edition of 300 copies.

According to Alternative Cinema, which is selling the VHS, this was "taped off of WNUF TV-28 on Halloween Night, 1987, this strange broadcast follows local news personality Frank Stewart and a team of paranormal researchers as they set out to prove that the abandoned Webber House – the site of ghastly murders – is actually haunted through a fascinating live on-air program featuring shocking EVP recordings and one-of-a-kind Call-In seance."

Also, the VHS features the full program, including the original commercials "that ran during the notorious broadcast." The "WNUF Halloween Special VHS" is a limited edition release of 300 copies, available exclusively through alternativecinema.com.

Shout! Factory Signs Deal with ITV Studios Global Entertainment

Shout! Factory has had some of the biggest and best releases for the past decade now, so what are their plans for the future? Why, to continue doing what they do best, of course.

This means expanding on their already impressive catalogue by teaming up with ITV Studios Global Entertainment; one of the world’s leading international TV distribution, home entertainment, publishing, merchandising and licensing business.

Carol Lee, one of Shout! Factory’s founders, said, “ITVS GE’s catalogue boasts some internationally acclaimed films, and this deal with Shout! Factory will give U.S. and Canadian consumers the opportunity to view some of these cinematic classics across physical and digital platforms.”

This is incredible news, because now US and Canadian viewers will now be able to get their mitts on more than a handful of some of the best classics, such as Sophie’s Choice, On Golden Pond, The Eagle Has Landed, The Unicorn, The Tamarind Seed, Capricorn One, The Cassandra Crossing, Brief Encounter, Saturn 3, The Merchant of Venice, Voyage of the Damned and The Boys From Brazil… and we’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what’s to come.

At this moment, there are no release dates or artwork announced, but this news is hot off the presses and as you can imagine, there will be more to come and once it starts, it won’t stop! We’ll keep you covered along the way, so keep checking back!

New details for 'The Exorcist' Blu-ray

We recently dished details on the upcoming Friday the 13th Blu-ray boxed set coming to you this September. Well, it looks like it’s another scary good day for horror fans everywhere, as details for the Blu-ray set for The Exorcist have just been released.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the 40th anniversary boxed set will include some amazing extras, including exclusive footage of author William Peter Blatty revisiting iconic locations that inspired the story; Blatty reading a new passage from the book; and a revealing interview with Father Eugene Gallagher, the man who first inspired Blatty with tales of exorcism.

The full list of extras and special features is listed after the jump. The Blu-ray is set to hit the shelves on Oct. 8, for about $50.

'Friday the 13th' complete collection gets a killer Blu-ray treatment this September

Not too long ago, Paramount re-acquired the rights back to the Friday the 13th franchise and you can believe fanboys were geeking out and gearing up for what was to come: All the Friday the 13th titles, for the first time ever, under the same roof -- and a complete box set with all the films, up to the remake (previously, Paramount only had the right to distribute the first eight films).

And so it shall be. To be released on Sept. 13 (yes, a Friday), the collection will be a 10-disc set, with the 12 films on nine Blu-ray discs with that leftover disc to be chockful of bonus feature goodies. So what’s this beast gonna look like? Well, no worries, because it didn’t take them long to push out an image! Inside this collectible tin set, you will also get a 40-page, soft cover booklet of inserts from the Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th. But that’s not all! Dust off your Boy Scout shirt and add a Camp Crystal Lake Counselor patch to that!

Final season of 'Ghost Hunters International' hits DVD -- but someone is missing from it

As if we haven't known for some time, it seems even more official after more than a year of speculation. The Syfy series Ghost Hunters International will have its third, and final, season released on DVD this Aug. 27. The title for the four-disc DVD set? Ghost Hunters International: The Final Season.”

GHI’s third season ran from July 13, 2011 to April 4, 2012 and featured team members Kris Williams Joe Chin, Paul Bradford, Susan Slaughter, Barry Fitzgerald and Scott Tepperman. Locations visited included Trinidad and Tobago; Turin, Italy; Limavady, Northern Ireland; and, Antwerp, Belgium.

We reported on what we believed to be the fairly final indication that GHI was just a ghost back in November when Notorious Hauntings (now known as Killer Contact) was announced for Syfy. But this seems to put the final lingering nail in the coffin short of an official statement.

Despite the crew listed, the DVD cover art only features part of the crew (Paul Bradford and Scott Tepperman are missing). According to Kat Coffin at Examiner.com, there’s another issue with the DVD: “The tag line for the DVD set says ‘Starring Barry FitzGerald, Britt Griffith and Kris Williams (2013),’ but Griffith wasn’t part of the final season crew.”

Bradford, a sometimes contributor for Paranormal Pop Culture, was rankled by the way the "announcement" was made and by his absence on the cover -- he also noted he is the fourth-longest running cast member on the show behind Robb Demarest (who left in the middle of Season Two), FitzGerald and Chin. Bradford sent the following statement about the DVD:

Psychic Chip Coffey teams with 'Ghost Lab' stars for DVD series

It looks like the stars of A&E’s Psychic Kids; Children of the Paranormal and the Discovery Channel’s Ghost Lab are joining forces for a film project. A recent press release from Brad and Barry Klinge's group Everyday Paranormal revealed they'd begin filming a paranormal-investigative reality DVD series with psychic/medium Chip Coffey (also from Paranormal State) on June 10. The Klinges are also executive producers of the still-unnamed series.

The release also states the first episode of the Studio Lychee-produced series will be available for DVD and download this fall.

Brad Klinge offers some insight on the series: “This is not just a paranormal show. We dive into unsolved murder mysteries, unwritten or little-known history, and controversial stories that have an aspect of paranormal to them. Many people want to restrict research styles into set categories. We are using the best of all worlds to not only show cool paranormal evidence, but use it to answer real-life questions.”

Brad’s brother Barry is also excited about not only the control they’ll have over the series but the addition of Chip Coffey: “This show will be serious, funny, moving, controversial...you name it. And then add Chip Coffey in with us? Hell, I’m looking forward to watching that show myself!”

This is not the first time Chip Coffey has collaborated with another paranormal investigative team, despite having appeared on another network. He recently appeared on an episode of Haunted Collector, and has worked at paranormal events hosted by Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures.

Mother, they're home! 'Psycho 2' and 3 coming to Blu-ray

More good news from Scream! Factory. They announced recently that coming this fall, Psycho II and III will coming to DVD and Blu-ray! Excited? You know we are!

'Evil Dead' Blu-ray/DVD specs announced

The day has finally come where the artwork and specs for the DVD and Blu-ray release of the Evil Dead remake have been unearthed! Swallowing your soul on July 16, Evil Dead is going to be packed with extras and really digging that cover art, with the old school horror vibe.

When five friends visit a remote cabin for a weekend of rehab, they discover a nasty Book of the Dead that summons demons from the nearby woods. The evil presence possesses them and pits them against one another and when you pick up the disc for at-home viewing, you'll get:

• Commentary featuring stars Jane Levy, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Director Fede Alvarez and write Rodo Sayagues (Blu-ray exclusive)

'Doctor Who' DVD flub releases 'The Name of the Doctor' early?

If there were ever a time that Whovians wanted the Silence to fall, it is now. Less than a week before the huge Season 7 finale, the official BBC Doctor Who Twitter accounts (@DoctorWho_BBCA, @BBCAMERICA, @bbcdoctorwho) released a very important statement on May 12:

"Some of the US DVDs of this series have gone out early. The #DoctorWho team would be hugely grateful if fans helped keep spoilers off the net."

For 50 years he has simply been known as the Doctor and, after many teases, we will finally know his given Gallifreyan name on May 18 in the episode "The Name of the Doctor." This is a big deal in the "Whoniverse," so imagine the desperation felt by the BBC and Doctor Who crew to keep this secret quiet -- despite the DVD flub and spoiler-happy trolls -- until the episode officially airs.

Steven Moffat himself stated that if fans help to keep the finale a secret that a video featuring Matt Smith and David Tennant will be released after the episode airs! But maybe Moffat's tease isn't necessary. After all, when new Companion Jenna-Louise Coleman turned up unexpectedly in last September's Season 7 premiere, the secret remained relatively safe despite numerous large-scale screenings. So maybe Who fans know how to keep a good mystery under wraps.

So, fellow Whovians, if you were lucky enough to receive the early/accidentally released DVDs, please keep the secrets to yourselves and if you must share? Everyone say it together in their best River Song voice..."hush now, spoilers."

'Walking Dead' Season 3 limited edition case revealed

If you were wondering how the folks at AMC and Anchor Bay (along with the craftsmanship of McFarlane Toys) would outdo themselves from Walking Dead's Season 2 Limited Edition Zombie Head case, you got your answer from Toy Fair and MTV Geek ...

It's the Governor's head-quarium.

Apparently crafted before they even knew what the Governor or anything would like, those talented devils at McFarlane Toys designed his now-infamous 'heads in fish tanks display.' We can’t express enough how amazing this looks or how awesome this case is. McFarlane and crew explain the whole modeling process in an interview the below and note that they added a nifty light-up feature to it. Now you can throw away those boring nightlights and let this piece of art illuminate your room. There is no release date or price as of yet, but you can bet that once this thing becomes available for pre-order, it will sell out fast!

The original 1962 classic is finally brought to Blu Ray this week. Gregory Peck stars as a lawyer Sam Bowden who puts away the vicious Max Cady (Robert Mitchum). Years later, Max is released and slowly begins mentally tormenting Sam and his family in this suspenseful tale of revenge and murder.

Dredd (R)
In this futuristic action flick based on the 2000 AD comic, Judges respond to a routine call to the Peach Trees Mega Block while on patrol, but Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) and Rookie Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) discover that the Mega Block is actually used to as the manufacturing grounds for a new powerful drug called Slo-mo, all being controlled by the malevolent Mama (Lena Heady). Once the building is sealed off, Dredd and Anderson must fight to stay alive and survive wave after bloody wave of gangs and traps.

'Mad Monster Party' arrives on Blu-ray

Even though Fall isn't quite in the air yet, there's no reason you can get psyched for Halloween. And thanks to Lionsgate Home Entertainment, the celebration began this week with the arrival of Mad Monster Party on a Blu-ray combo pack.

If you don't remember, MMP revolves around Baron Von Frankenstein (voice of Boris Karloff), who has decided to retire as the head of the Worldwide Organization of Monsters. But first, he must inform the other monsters about his plans. How to deliver the news? How else - through a Mad Monster Party! Von Frankenstein’s guests include a who’s who of Halloween favorites (although they never actually mention the Oct. 31 holiday), including the Werewolf, Dracula, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Mummy, the Invisible Man and more. But who among them is fit to be the new head of the monsters?

From the Rankin/Bass team who created the stop-motion and animated holiday classics "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Frosty the Snowman," Mad Monster Party stars the voice talents of Boris Karloff (Frankenstein) and Phyllis Diller (Eight on the Lam). The Blu-ray Combo Pack bonus materials include a "making of" featurette, plus two featurettes that look at the animation and the music of the film, as well as two bonus sing-along tracks. The Mad Monster Party Blu-ray Combo Pack arrived on Sept. 4 for the suggested retail price of $14.99.
