Is McFarlane prepping a new 'Spawn' movie?

Ever since we survived the disaster that was the Spawn live adaptation back in 1997, there has been
talks of a sequel, then a reboot. At one point, there was even talk that Leonardo DiCaprio was
attached to play a detective investigating all of Spawn’s activities -- kind of like Martin Soap from The
Punisher.

Well, since it’s been quiet for a little too long, MTV Geek! spoke with Todd McFarlane, creator of the "dead soldier resurrected as a demon/hero," and asked about the status on a potential sequel

"I continue writing pages here and there," says McFarlane. "I have a guy waiting in the sidelines, an Academy Award-winning actor. Every three weeks he’s on the phone going, 'Todd, where’s the script? Todd, where’s the script?' I can’t say who it is. He came out to the office. He gave me his pitch, and I gave him mine. The pitch I gave was that we could do 10 of these for the next 10 years and he wouldn't have to be 22 for the rest of his life."

So who could this mystery man be? Hopefully, this wizard behind the curtain person helps the movie get on the fast track. Spawn is a great character with a tragic background and dark, gritty story to back it up -- with plenty of action and violence. With how properly comic properties are being treated nowadays, a good Spawn film could be made. McFarlane also dropped some info on a new animated series in the works.

'Walking Dead' Season 3 limited edition case revealed

courtesy MTV
If you were wondering how the folks at AMC and Anchor Bay (along with the craftsmanship of McFarlane Toys) would outdo themselves from Walking Dead's Season 2 Limited Edition Zombie Head case, you got your answer from Toy Fair and MTV Geek ...

It's the Governor's head-quarium.

Apparently crafted before they even knew what the Governor or anything would like, those talented devils at McFarlane Toys designed his now-infamous 'heads in fish tanks display.' We can’t express enough how amazing this looks or how awesome this case is. McFarlane and crew explain the whole modeling process in an interview the below and note that they added a nifty light-up feature to it. Now you can throw away those boring nightlights and let this piece of art illuminate your room. There is no release date or price as of yet, but you can bet that once this thing becomes available for pre-order, it will sell out fast!

McFarlane Toys unveils 'Walking Dead' Michonne statue

Courtesy MTV Geek
Pay attention, serious toy collectors and fans of The Walking Dead. Todd McFarlane and his McFarlane Toys, and Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman have collaborated and created a statue of fan-fave Michonne that kicks as much ass as she does.

Thanks to an announcement over at MTV Geek we learned that this exclusive piece "...is approximately 14.5 inches high with a base that rotates 360 degrees, and features Michonne throwing down on a couple of Walkers, with gruesome detail from every angle. The suggested retail price is $295.00, and there will only be 1,500 pieces made."

Kirkman gave MTV Geek a phone interview and revealed "It's a collaboration between myself and Todd McFarlane and McFarlane Toys. I’d been in discussions with McFarlane about doing the statue, and I said, ‘I really want to do something that pushes the envelope’."

He added:

Toy collectors and zombie-heads should start saving up for McFarlane Toys' next wave of Walking Dead action figures, debuting October 2012. Based on the AMC drama, the TV Series 2 includes shaved-headed Shane Walsh, a new Rick Grimes and three zombies - the RV Zombie (with the screwdriver in the peeper) and Well Zombie from season two, and the Bicycle Girl Zombie from season one.

According to the McFarlane Toys site, the anticipated zombie action poses from the figures includes (after the jump):

Todd McFarlane on his 'Walking Dead' toys

Comic book creator and toy entrepreneur Todd McFarlane spoke with us about his upcoming line of The Walking Dead comic book/TV series action figures at NYC's Toy Fair 2011.

Playing dead: McFarlane Toys to release 'Walking Dead' figures

According to Comics Alliance, Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead will be turned into an action figure series courtesy of Spawn creator (and Kirkman's Haunt co-collaborator) Todd McFarlane. But which version of Dead will be represented in toy form starting next September, for $16 each: the comic book or the TV series? Well, both.

The first series of fully-articulated, 6" figures will come from the funny books and include Officer Frank Grimes and fan-favorite, sword-wielding Michonne, along with two zombies. The second series, based on the TV series and to be released in Nov. 2011, will include actor Andrew Lincoln's Deputy Frank Grimes, Daryl Dixon and two more zombies.

Here's McFarlane Toys' first taste of the undead eaters.
