The CW's 'The Flash' Casts John Wesley Shipp in a Mystery Role

Ready for a Flashback? It has just been announced that John Wesley Shipp, who played Barry Allen/The Flash in the 1990s TV series, has joined the cast of The CW and Warner Bros. Television’s pilot "The Flash."

The press release states that, "Shipp will guest star in the pilot in a mystery role, with the part intended to be a recurring guest star in series." There are no further details at this time

Penned by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Geoff Johns and directed by David Nutter, this one-hour drama based upon the DC Comics characters stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen. Allen is a scientist who, thanks to a freak accident, is given the power of super speed that transforms him into the Fastest Man Alive.

The series also stars Candice Patton as Iris West, Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, with Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective West.

Paranormal Pop Culture: 2014 Winter TV Guide

The holidays are over and now we can resume watching not only our favorite TV programs but also get addicted to some new shows. From blood-suckers to aliens to ghosts, there's something for everyone to enjoy from the comfort of their couch.

Syfy is handing out the goodies with their new shows "Helix," Bitten," and "Opposite Worlds." The CW is starting off the new year with the return of "Arrow," new fan-fav, "The Originals," as well as introducing us to "The 100." Some shows are returning but don't yet have a premiere date locked down, for example, "Mountain Monsters" will be returning to Destination America in "early 2014" and we're eagerly awaiting a premiere date for "Game of Thrones." So here you go! A winter and early spring guide to new and old.

'Tales From the Darkside' Reboot Returning to the CW?

It looks like the days of television horror anthologies like "The Twilight Zone" and "Tales From the Crypt" will be returning soon. While both of these shows have been long rumored to return, it appears that the CW is looking to reboot George A. Romero's 1983 series "Tales From the Darkside," a spin-off of the "Creepshow" films.

Deadline reported earlier that Alex Kurtzman, Bob Orci and Joe Hill, are partnering with the CW to bring about the return of the show. Writer Joe Hill is no stranger to the world of horror, as he made an appearance as Billy in the original "Creepshow" movie. Oh,  his father is also the master of terror himself, Stephen King.

Kurtzman, Orci and Hill previously teamed up on a television adaptation of "Locke & Key" for Fox, however it never moved farther than the order for a pilot. While it's still in the very early stages of development, we here at Paranormal Pop Culture will keep you posted on this project.

Hopefully they keep the theme song, which is almost as terrifying as the show itself ...

The CW Looking to Add DC Hero 'Hourman' to their Line-Up

Already home to DC hero “The Arrow,” having a series based on “The Flash” in the works, and mulling over a “Wonder Woman” prequel series called “Amazon,” The Hollywood Reporter is revealing that the CW network is looking to add another DC character, Hourman, to their line-up. “Hourman” (aka Rex Tyler) has all the key elements to make for a decent primetime drama.

Created in 1940 by Ken Fitch and Bernard Bailey, THR fills us in on Hourman’s background:

Hourman centers on a brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst who discovers that the visions that have plagued him since childhood are actually glimpses of tragic events occurring one hour in the future. Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way.

Hourman has been associated with several important DC groups, including the Justice Society of America, Freedom Fighters, the Justice League and All-Star Squadron and has appeared in three different DC series.

The television drama series is set to be penned by as well as executive produced by Michael Caleo. Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz will also be executive producers. No air date is currently scheduled.

New 'Vampire Diaries' photos give Season 4 sneak peek

Lots of photos for Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries hit today that shows our lovely cast engaged in all sorts of sexy, supernatural happenings. The CW returns on Oct. 11, but there's no reason you vamp lovers can begin salivating now.

'Vampire Diaries' Season Three blooper reel

I am an unabashed fan of blooper reels. Maybe because it is fun to watch actors we normally see acting all serious and method getting goofy. It is a chance to see the human side of big personalities. Maybe I like them because I just enjoy seeing other people screw up (and to remind me of my own copious screw ups). Or maybe I just like seeing actors make sex jokes and reveal how bad they are at playing catch.

Whatever the reason, this is a fun peek at the goof-ups behind The Vampire Diaries Season Three. The DVD of S3 hits on Sept. 11 - a full month before the Oct. 11 S4 premiere on The CW.

'Dr. Horrible' to invade TV - like, actual TV!

Joss Whedon's musical production Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog will be premiering on The CW on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 9 p.m.

The awesome piece of pop culture starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day (not to mention, The Big Bang Theory's Simon Helberg) about a super villain in love just trying to make his way in the world.

We've already heard from Whedon that he plans on making a Horrible sequel (but not one that's horrible), so maybe getting the sing-along blog - which premiered via the Internet in three acts in 2008 - on TV is all part of the superstar director's master plan. Cue evil laugh ... now.

'Supernatural' Friday: Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard on Season 7

When we last left the Winchester brothers, things had gone to hell in Heaven. Castiel has left his angelic self behind to become God after the Civil War in Heaven and a battle over the souls in Purgatory. Sam has his memories back, Raphael is destroyed, Crowley has escaped and an all-powerful Cas now tells the boys to worship him or suffer.

So what's next on Supernatural?
