Full Release:
NEW YORK – August 3, 2015 – Syfy and Universal Cable Productions (UCP) today announced that production has commenced in Melbourne, Australia on the upcoming thriller series Hunters. The series is from executive producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead, The Terminator Trilogy) and Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkeys, Heroes), who will also serve as showrunner, and Emile Levisetti (Royal Pains). Ernest Dickerson (The Walking Dead, Dexter) is set to direct the pilot.

The series stars Nathan Phillips (Wolf Creek) as Flynn, a headstrong Baltimore FBI agent with a dark past trying to piece together the disappearance of his wife. Britne Oldford (American Horror Story) will play Regan, who is one of the government’s most valuable operatives and may be keeping secrets of her own. Julian McMahon portrays McCarthy, an unhinged junkie and Hunter cell leader.

Hunters is inspired by Whitley Strieber’s best-selling novel, Alien Hunter, in which the disappearance of a decorated FBI agent's wife leads him to a secret government unit assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists - shadowy figures that may or may not be from this world. The series will be tonally dark and offer a unique crossover twist between gritty crime drama and sci-fi thriller.

The 13-part series from Universal Cable Productions will premiere on Syfy in 2016.

Hunters joins other high profile upcoming Syfy originals, including the December 2015 premieres of epic space drama The Expanse, starring Thomas Jane, Steven Strait and Shohreh Aghdashloo; Childhood’s End, the first-ever adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s iconic novel starring Charles Dance, Mike Vogel and Julian McMahon; and The Magicians, based on Lev Grossman’s best-selling books and set to premiere in 2016. Will The Governor Be Returning to 'The Walking Dead?'

He's back? (photo courtesy amctv.com)
Last week in a TVGuide Q&A, a little spoiler about the mid-season premiere of "The Walking Dead" was dropped. Despite the episode being described as very Carl and Rick-oriented, it indicated that a character we thought met his demise, would be returning. Wait...what?

Here's exactly what was written:

Do you have any scoop on the return of "The Walking Dead?" — Damon
Don't expect to see too many familiar faces since Rick and Carl take center stage when the AMC drama returns. While Rick heals from his beating from The Governor — whom you will see again — Carl will lose something very important to him. (No, not his innocence!) In other news, it won't be long before this mystery is blown wide open.

Now we don't suspect that The Governor is a zombie, per se, but that he'll be one of very-badly-hurt-Rick's hallucinations. This seems to be the popular belief and since Rick has a history of hallucinations, this would make sense. Also, since executive producer, Gale Anne Hurd re-tweeted the TVGuide spoiler via The Examiner, it indicates that the powers that be want this tidbit to get out there.

So there you have it. The Governor will be showing up again but we'll just have to tune in this Sunday to find out how, where, and if he'll still be the mega-villain he was when he was breathing. Sound off with your thoughts!

A Look Ahead at 'The Walking Dead' Season Four

We're eagerly anticipating the mid-season return of "The Walking Dead" and just love when AMC gives us previews to hold us over. We still have to wait until Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET but until then, enjoy this peek. The almost-four-minute video offers commentary from not only the show's Executive Producers; Robert Kirkman, Dave Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd, and Greg Nicotero, but also from key cast members. More psychological horror, changing characters and a weakened group due to being separated from each other, is promised.

Here's a quick run-down from AMC's press release...

Following the devastating events of the mid-season finale, Rick and the group are still reeling from the loss of their home, family, and friends. With the destruction of the prison, we see the group of survivors broken apart and sent on divergent paths, unsure of everyone else's fate. What was a challenging life behind fences and walls grows that much more perilous and precious as they are exposed to new dangers, new enemies, and heartbreaking choices. They will have their faith thoroughly tested -- a faith that breaks some of them and redeems others.

'Walking Dead' honcho to produce WWII alien drama at USA

Eight years after tackling aliens in the sci-fi show The 4400, the USA Network is gunning for E.T.s with a new show by Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd.

Deadline.com reports that Horizon is set in World War II and "centers on a secretary at the FBI who discovers that her husband might have been killed in a battle with a spaceship in the South Pacific ... Obsessed with learning the truth, she becomes the only person standing between Earth and an alien invasion."

Horizon is being called a "cast-contingent pilot" and no air date has been released yet. We’ll keep you up-to-date on any news related to this new series that sounds a little like it could be an X-Files prequel. Maybe?
