'The Amazing Spider-Man' Rings in the New Year in Times Square

Courtesy: Collider
The Amazing Spider-Man helped ring in 2014 with a trailer not only containing the Generalissimo himself, Stan Lee but also exclusive content featuring Times Square. Did you also know that he paid a personal visit to the ball? We have both the trailer and a peek at his visit, compliments of Marvel Entertainment.

"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, and Dane DeHaan and arrives in theaters May 2. Here's the official synopsis, then check out the two videos after the jump:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Trailer Previews for 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2'

The trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” is being released this week but over at ComicBookMovie.com, they gave us a very brief peek. The clips are of the “don’t blink or you’ll miss it" variety and the text is in Spanish. However, that text hints at what the possible subtitle may be…"La Amenzana De Electro," or "The Rise of Electro.” That sounds a little jazzier, doesn’t it?

Here’s a description of the film, thanks to comicbookmovies.com:

In "The Amazing Spider-Man™ 2," for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

After the jump, check out these webtastic photos from the film, compliments of IGN, then watch the videos. Remember, check back here for the official trailer in two days and keep up-to-date by "liking" Spidey's official Facebook page. "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be in theaters May 2, 2014.

Jamie Foxx partners with Syfy for horror series

Syfy announced this week that they will pair with Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained), through his Foxxhole Productions, on a five-episode horror anthology series. The untitled show will be executive produced, written and directed by Foxx and will explore morality tales with themes like envy, jealousy and superficiality. Universal Cable Productions will produce the series.

There is no title yet but it is scheduled to be aired during the network's 31 Days of Halloween programming slate this October.

The series is being compared by Syfy to successful TV classics like Tales From the Crypt and The Twilight Zone.

Foxx commented, "This is a project that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m so happy to see it come to life. Get ready to lose it when some special friends and I bring the scares this October, and who knows… maybe I’ll make a guest appearance or two along the way!"

President, Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head, Original Content, Universal Cable Productions, Mark Stern expressed how happy the network is to collaborate with Foxx. "We couldn’t be more excited to work with someone as talented and multifaceted as Jamie Foxx. His passion and unique perspective will transform these universal insights on the human condition into emotionally potent and truly scary cautionary tales."

We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge about this anthology, as well as any more Syfy announcements. It seems to just keep getting better!

Web of 'Spider-Man' sequel casting grows

Looks like the cast for the Amazing Spider-Man sequel is only growing, and now includes a resurrected dead character.

A few days back director Mark Webb tweeted news that Dane DeHaan (the villain from the really cool found-footage super-hero movie Chronicle) will be playing Harry Osborn against Andrew Garfield’s Pete/Spidey. Will he become the super-villain Green Goblin, Hobgoblin, Demi-Goblin, "New" Goblin? Any Goblin at all? And if Harry will be around, is it a safe bet that megalomaniac daddy Norman Osborn will also appear?
