USPS To Release Batman Forever Stamps in Time For NYCC

To coincide with New York Comic Con, the US Postal Service is taking on the Batman with some super new stamp designs.

According to the USPS, "This new issuance showcases eight unique designs in a sheet of 20 stamps. Four versions of the iconic DC Comics super hero are depicted from four eras of comic book history. In addition, there are four incarnations of the Bat-Signal." The stamps will be available on October 9 but you can click here to pre-order.

The first row of stamps features Batman with his fists clenched. This muscular, determined Caped Crusader has spent the Modern Age of Comics defending Gotham City from its most notorious villains.
The second row of stamps displays Batman dramatically staring up at the Bat-Signal. By the Bronze Age of Comics, artists had encased the super hero’s spare black bat emblem with a yellow oval. The insignia became the crime fighter’s trademark.
The third row of stamps shows Batman swooping into the frame with his cape flying behind him. The image, from the Silver Age of Comics, accentuates the super hero’s signature glowing white eyes and utility belt.

'X-Files' New York Comic Con Recap

After their blockbuster appearance at San Diego Comic-Con last July, the 20th anniversary tour of "The X-Files" continued at New York Comic Con last Sunday. Stars David Duchovny (Agent Mulder) and Gillian Anderson (Agent Scully) once again took the stage to discuss their time on the show and possibly another movie.

The panel began with the attendees singing happy birthday to showrunner (not in attendance) Chris Carter while Duchovny recorded it on his phone (check out our own Aaron Sagers' video of it here)

The topics discussed ranged from the actors not realizing how big the show would become, Dana Scully making science cool for girls, the fact that they've never read the "Season 10" comics, to the most awkward things they had to film, which involved climbing out of a slimy dirt hole and bees. When the panel host asked about their current projects ("Californication" for Duchovny and "Hannibal" for Anderson), Duchovny cut the moderator off and told him that the audience just wanted to talk about the "X-Files."

'The Walking Dead' NYCC Panel Recap

New York Comic Con unleashed a lot of breaking news this weekend via their epic panels. One such occasion was the casting news revealed during the panel for “The Walking Dead.”

Moderated by Yvette Nicole Brown (“Community”), the panel was helmed by Robert Kirkman, Greg Nicotero, Scott Gimple, Gale Anne Hurd, Dave Alpert, Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus (who brought stuffed squirrels to throw to the audience), Steven Yuen, Chad L. Coleman, Danai Gurira and Lauren Cohan.

New 'Star Wars' Villain Introduced at NYCC

In a New York Comic Con exclusive, an all new villain for the Empire has been introduced to the upcoming animated series, "Star Wars Rebels."

The Inquisitor debuted during a panel at NYCC, and is the first new "Star Wars" character to be announced since Disney took the helm. Under orders from the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, his job is to hunt down all remaining Jedi Knights.

Many fans are already questioning his purpose, as Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued Order 66 (the execution of all Jedi), which was followed by the Great Jedi Purge.

Don't get too upset just yet, loyal fans. All members of the panel want us to know that The Inquisitor will not negate Order 66 and they are placing extreme importance on the fact that Luke Skywalker IS the last of the Jedi.

With Tim Curry and Matt Sloan set to voice Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader, respectively, the new series is full of promise. At this time there is no word on which additional characters will be joining the animated series, but stay tuned! "Star Wars Rebels" is scheduled to air in the Fall of 2014. Season Four 'Falling Skies' Sneak Peek Shown at NYCC Panel

If you couldn't make it to New York Comic Con but are a huge fan of TNT's "Falling Skies," you'll be pleased that the sneak peek of Season Four shown at their panel, is available.

The two-minute preview just hit their social media feeds including Twitter and Facebook, so be sure to follow them for up-to-date NYCC news and hints about the next season. The preview video is full of action and foreboding and we're warned to "Fight for Earth but fear the skies."

'Z*Con' Infects NYCC For Charity

Michael C. Dougherty of Big Damn Films is set to infect the New York City Comic Con with his new film "Z*Con."

Instead of the usual hack-bite gross, "Z*Con" is about four teens that are trapped inside a comic convention when the zombie outbreak begins, and how they use social media to survive. Dougherty is marrying "The Goonies" and zombie fan fave, "Shaun of the Dead,"to create a family friendly take on the zompoc.

What gives "Z*Con" yet another edge, is the fact that Big Damn Films will be donating 100% of the net proceeds to charity. The charities that will benefit from this project include the American Red Cross, Kids Need to Read and Dougherty's own nonprofit, Big Damn Films, to cover the costs of promotion and production. With this gesture, Dougherty hopes to change how indie films are marketed and distributed, and to also create a greater impact within the community.

The Indiegogo campaign for Z*Con is running now through November 9, with full information here. You can catch Dougherty and FX makeup artist, Vince Collura will be at the NYCC (October 11-13) so be sure to chat them up on this new project!

Romero's 'Empire of the Dead' Invades NYC

Marvel has recently announced that the “Godfather of the Zombie Apocalypse” George A. Romero, is writing a brand new comic series called “Empire of the Dead.”

According to editor-in-chief, Axel Alonso, “George A. Romero singlehandedly created the zombie genre that’s captured the public imagination for decades. Now, his unique vision for the silver screen comes to life on the comic book page – a chilling rumination on human nature and man’s place in the food chain, served with a terrifying twist.”

It’s years after the plague has hit and Manhattan may be quarantined but flesh eaters still roam and pose a threat. There is also another predator on the loose and unfortunately, we have to wait until January to learn about this new threat.

However, a lucky few can not only attend a panel but get a signed "Empire of the Dead" mini poster signed by the man himself. How? You'll have to attend this weekend's New York Comic Con.
