Robert Englund knows something about terror. For nearly 36 years the actor has been best known as the maker of nightmare fuel in the form of dreamscape stalker Freddy Krueger from the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. But beyond the role of Freddy, or The Mangler, or The Phantom of the Opera, Englund is a horror icon. His name alone has become synonymous with scary stories.
And in the new series, True Terror with Robert Englund, which airs Wednesdays at 10|9c, his role is that of horror host, sharing stories that are perhaps the scariest because they are ripped from the historical headlines of America’s newspapers. Brought to life via both Englund’s narration and reenactments, these True Terror tales of premonition, monster sightings, premature burials — and yes, even haunted nightmares — are so striking because they are rooted in fact.
In our following conversation, Robert Englund shares his fascination with these stories of the odd, and macabre, and even recounts two tales of the unexplained from his own personal history.

Zombies vs. Vampires: Celebs of the supernatural speak
BY AARON SAGERS
The undead vs. the walking dead: We spoke to celebrities who have built a career around the supernatural about this undying debate ...
JOHN CARPENTER
"They're both great. Vampires go way back to when I was a little kid. And back even more to my parent's generation - and back even before them. The zombies are a little more recent. One of my favorite directors and close friends is George Romero and I think he transformed the horror genre with Night of the Living Dead
. And it's everywhere today. Everywhere. That movie has influenced everything here, all movies that are made. It's unbelievable – and ripped off and ripped off, again and again and again."

Robert Englund Makes PSA Pleas For Psychopaths, Chiller
Without a home, there are psychopaths in America doomed to amateur gardening and eating old human teeth, forgoing their dreams of hacking into unsuspecting teenagers.
If that idea makes you weepy, get out the Kleenex because Robert Englund brings on the tears (of joy!) in his faux PSA for Chiller. The iconic horror actor pleads viewers to tune into original Chiller movies so slashers won't be so alone and ignored in the world.
This is funny stuff, and whomever came up with this buzzy concept over at Chiller deserves a raise for doing something right. Also, could this be just the beginning of similarly-themed PSAs from the NBCUniversal Comcast company?
Might I suggest Robert Englund return as a Jerry Lewis host for a telethon spot with Kane Hodder, Tony Todd, Gunnar Hansen and Brad Dourif all accepting donations for Chiller from callers -- who are all calling from inside the house!
Robert Englund to hunt crocs for Syfy in 'Lake Placid' sequel
The Syfy network announced on Nov. 3 that horror icon Robert Englund, aka Freddy Krueger, will appear in the upcoming Syfy Saturday Original Movie Lake Placid: The Final Chapter.
Englund follows previous Placid performers Betty White, Cloris Leachman and Colin Ferguson as Jim Bickerman, a croc poacher. Lake Placid: The Final Chapter will also co-star Elisabeth Rohm (Law and Order) and Yancy Butler (Kick-Ass). The creature feature, directed by Don Michael Paul, is currently filming in Bulgaria and will premiere on Syfy in 2012.
This news is so good we thought it deserved a nursery rhyme:

One, two, Englund's coming to the tube.
Three, four, Syfy is giving us more.
Five, six, this feeds our monster fix.
Seven, eight, a Placid sequel is great.
Nine, ten, those crocs are at it again.
