'Devil's Advocate' Coming to Primetime As Legal Procedural

"Suits" meets Satan!  Sorta.

It looks like Warner Bros. Television is working with NBC to turn the 1997 movie "Devil's Advocate" into a legal television drama, according to "Entertainment Weekly."

If the only thing you remember about "Devil's Advocate" is Keanu Reeves questionable southern accent, allow me to refresh your memory: Originally a novel by the same name, it tells the story of a young, upstart attorney beginning a new job when he is quickly taken under the wing of the Lucifer-esque senior partner of his new law firm.

If American television audiences love anything, they love the procedural show (just look at the shelf life of something like a "Law and Order") "Devil's Advocate" could certainly be getting a two-for-one deal of the procedural audience and the supernatural television fans, however, the EW article does make note of the recent difficulties network television has been having selling the devil in prime time-citing, most recently, the disappointing ratings for the "Rosemary's Baby" miniseries starring Zoe Saldana and the failure of "666 Park Ave." But keep in mind that NBC is launching the supernatural-themed "Constantine" this fall. If that hits big enough, you'll likely see more faith in this project. Not to mention, Warner is the production studio behind long-running hit "Supernatural."

Beyond the production announcement, not much else has come out surrounding the "Devil's Advocate" TV series.  I know I'm excited to see who could fill Al Pacino's scene-chewing shoes in the role of cleverly named John Milton for the television version.

Could it be.....Satan?  Sorry, I had to.

'Rosemary's Baby' Recap: Part II

I'm really not sure what I was expecting for the "Rosemary's Baby" finale but this certainly wasn't it: good guys die, bad guys win and the Borg assimilated the rest. Let's do this.

Picking up where we left off Sunday night, Rosemary and Guy compare battle scars. Maybe the orgy wasn't in her head after all. You know, I'm pretty sure the body fluid opening is the same one used in "Look Who's Talking" and that's not necessarily a good thing.

The Commish reviews the footage of Hoodie's gory demise and something or someone catches his eye. He's gonna be in hot pursuit now.

Having girl time with Julie, Rosemary confesses that she and Guy have been going through a dry spell since the night of the forgotten orgy. Catching a glimpse of Julie's gold cross, she doubles over in pain though it could also be due to the coffee. Know what's a great way to feel better? Touring the Paris catacomb where she passes out due to abdominal  pain. I'm just going to put this out there: Rosemary makes incredibly poor decisions. Turns out she's not allergic to crosses or lactose intolerant: she's just pregnant.

'Rosemary's Baby' Recap: Part One

What better way to end a day celebrating mothers than with the heartwarming tale of a young mother-to-be as she experiences all the worst parts of What to Expect When You're Expecting the Anti-Christ. Part One of the NBC mini-series, "Rosemary's Baby" premiered last night and...full disclosure: I've never seen the original because I'm a giant wuss but I figured what's some demonic fetal possession when the zombie apocalypse is nigh. Let's do this.

We start with a cold open with girl committing suicide by jumping out of window convinced there are monsters inside and out. Without giving too much away, she might be onto something here.

Cut to Rosemary having ultrasound but in every pregnant woman's worst nightmare: the tech could not find a heartbeat. Some people cry, some people shut down, others move to France for a year to put some distance between themselves and their sorrow.  While trying to find a restaurant where her friend Julie is waiting for her, we are charmingly introduced to the plot point that Rosemary doesn't speak a word of French. Really? On the seven-hour flight you couldn't have at least pretended to look at a French 101 book?

NBC Releases an Exclusive Teaser for 'Rosemary's Baby'

From NBC comes an exclusive new teaser for the two-night mini-series event, "Rosemary's Baby." Based on the 1967 novel by Ira Levin, "'Rosemary's Baby' centers on a young married couple who escapes New York and moves to Paris with hopes of leaving their sad past behind. After a series of unfortunate events, Rosemary (Zoe Saldana) and Guy Woodhouse (Patrick J. Adams) are presented with an offer they can't refuse - an apartment at the most prestigious address in the city. Problem is, it comes with a haunted past and an immeasurable price."

The four-hour event airs May 11 and 15, starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT each night.

'Rosemary's Baby' Mini-Series Will Star Zoe Saldana

The four-hour NBC mini-series adaptation of Ira Levin's 1967 novel, "Rosemary's Baby" now has its lead. Variety is reporting that Zoe Saldana will play the pregnant wife of a fame hungry actor with really nosey and devilish neighbors.

Announced back in December, it appears that the mini-series will stay true to the novel, "'Rosemary’s Baby' centers on a young married couple who move into a Paris apartment that has a haunted past. After getting pregnant, the wife becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their neighbors will have ulterior motives when her child is born."

Saldana will also serve as one of the executive producers of the Lionsgate-produced series. According to Quinn Taylor, Executive Vice President, Movies, Miniseries and International Co-Productions, NBC Entertainment, “Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin’s infamous novel. With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event mini-series is off to a great start.”
