David Duchovny to Star in New Charles Manson NBC Drama 'Aquarius'

Courtesy IMDB
It looks like David Duchovny is back on the hunt for the truth and this time, it's on NBC in a new period drama called "Aquarius." Variety is reporting that "The X-Files" and "Californication" star will portray ..."a police detective on the trail of the Los Angeles-area hippie cult leader who turns out to be Charles Manson."

From ITV Studios and Marty Adelstein Productions, "Aquarius" is a 13-episode straight-to-series order that has John McNamara on deck as both writer and executive producer along with Duchovny, Marty Adelstein and Melanie Greene.

According to Variety, the series will take place in the late 1960s and revolve around Duchovny's character of a "Los Angeles police sergeant with a complicated personal life. His character and "...his younger partner begin tracking a small-time criminal who specializes in luring vulnerable young women to his 'cause.'"

They also report that "Aquarius" will initially focus on the early part of Manson's "twists and turns" but will save the horrors he commanded in August 1969 for subsequent seasons.

Manson Story to Be Told By Rob Zombie

When you think of Rob Zombie you think rock legend and horror movie genius, having directed such films as “House of 1000 Corpses," “Devil's Rejects” and “Halloween." Now, according to Dread Central, Zombie is teaming up with “American Psycho” writer Bret Easton Ellis to bring us the chilling story of Charles Manson. The project is in its early stages of development and no formal script has been written but the project plans to revisit the people and events connected to the August 1969 murders.

Zombie has had a long standing fascination with the Manson murders which left seven people in the Los Angeles area dead, including actress Sharon Tate who was eight and a half months pregnant. Manson is currently serving a life sentence in prison for the crimes even though he was never found to have committed a homicide himself. It was the sheer theatricality of how his followers committed crimes for him that have allowed this story to continue to be told.

Recently, "Ghost Adventures" visited the Oman house in Los Angeles which is roughly 200 feet from where the body of actress Sharon Tate was found in 1969. Paranormal Pop Culture’s own Nowal Massari provided a recap of that episode which can be found here. David Oman, the current owner claims that the spirit of Sharon Tate has been trying to communicate with him. He’s had so much activity in the house, he produced the film “House at the End of the Drive” about his experiences in the house.

BY NOWAL MASSARI

The guys of "Ghost Adventures" are back on a new night, with a new intro and ready for brand new lockdowns. The season nine premiere takes the crew to the Oman house in Los Angeles. The Benedict Canyon home is around 200ft. from where Sharon Tate was brutally murdered by the Manson family in 1969.

In August 1969, Sharon Tate, wife of director Roman Polanski ("Rosemary's Baby"), was two weeks from giving birth to her first child. She had a small group of friends join her in her home since her husband's return from London had been delayed. That night, followers of Charles Manson broke into the home and brutally murdered the entire group. Tate herself was stabbed 16 times. Charles Manson, 79, is in prison on the charge of conspiracy to commit the murders of seven people and murder through joint-responsibility. Originally sentenced to death, that sentence was changed to life in prison after the death penalty was abolished in the state of California. Manson now resides in Corcoran State Prison.
