While some people may be "over" the zombie phenomenon, there is no sign of it slowing down anytime soon. According to BBC and Deadline, the virus has infected the world of reality television and will soon be shambling onto screens in the form of a game show.
In a nod that fans of George A. Romero will be sure to appreciate, the show takes place in a zombie infested mall a la "Dawn of the Dead." The ultimate goal of the show, as with any zompoc media, is to survive the hordes until the Army shows up to rescue you. To make things interesting, if a contestant is bitten on the show, they are taken out of the game in a particularly gruesome manner. Here are a few more details via the BBC:
Zombie Flesh Eaters, aka Lucio Fulci’s controversial movie Zombie (aka the "zombie vs. shark movie")has received the Blu-Ray/DVD treatment, and is out now.
Like Scream Factory, Arrow is one of those companies that puts tender love and care into their releases and even include original artist posters!
Restored from the original camera negative, ZFE's new version will include a ton of special features, additional collector’s material, and never-before-seen extras including optional English/Italian opening titles, a UK exclusive introduction to the film from lead actor Ian McCulloch, and a number of brand-new featurettes.
For more on the plot and a peek at the restored trailer, go beyond the jump...
Ready just in time for the holidays, Steven C. Miller’s loose remake of the 1984 slasher is now out on DVD, Blu-ray.
While the original film was about a tormented young boy whose parents are killed by a maniac dressed as Santa, who then grows up and assumes the role of murdery ol' St. Nick, the Silent Night remake shifts focus to a local Sherriff’s department as they track down a crazed killer dressed as Santa.
The movie stars Malcolm McDowell, Jaime King, Lisa Marie, Donal Logue and Brendan Fehr.
Check out the film synopsis and trailer after the jump:
Every fan of The Toxic Avenger has heard tales about the famous Japanese Cut - it's more vulgar and violent and filled with, you know, the good stuff.
Well if you've been patiently awaiting the day when we here in the States would get the same treatment, wait no more! Come Dec. 11, Troma fans will be treated to the official Japanese Cut of The Toxic Avenger! According to Dread Central, the release won't come on Blu-ray, and is thin on extras. But still, this is a nice Christmas miracle for horror fans.
So Uwe Boll has a new movie - wait, don’t run away! Uwe Boll is only presenting the film Eaters; he didn’t direct it. You think with Mr. Boll’s attachment to the project, critics would be ripping this apart, but surprisingly this Italian made Romero-era zombie homage is receiving a lot of positive criticism. You had me at "Italian made." Keep an eye out
for this gem in March!
Synopsis:
After being devastated by a deadly epidemic, the world is now governed by hordes of living dead. Locked in a fortress that has been turned into a research center and shelter, three men - zombie hunters Igor and Alen and a scientist named Gyno - are trying to find an answer to what has happened to the human race.
From the same people that made Re-Animator, comes another well-told H.P. Lovecraft adaptation!
Scream Factory has announced that they will release this 1986 flick next year. This is actually one of my favorite Sci-Fi/Horror films, so I can’t wait for it!
Here’s what Scream Factory said on their Facebook page:
From the Director of Re-Animator- will be coming out as a Collector's Edition Bluray & DVD combo next year! There will be new extras along with the older ones which were on theprior 2007 DVD release.
So expect the usual amazing artwork, spectacular transfer and loaded with bonus features!

When I first saw the word 'Neo-Giallo,' I immediately thought of Akira. But this isn’t the case. I’m a huge fan of Italian Giallo films, so when I saw that word along with this poster, it had my full attention.

It has been a year since the last one, so here is another! I actually welcome most franchises that keep continuing their series, because its what they did in the '80s. Anyway, enough chatter, look out for Wrong Turn 5 on DVD, Blu-ray and digital download on Oct. 23 - just in time for Halloween for all you ghouls. I feel like all I write about lately is remakes, but then again it’s all that seems to be in the news. Of course, when you are talking about a remake of a chilling Stephen King tale that stars the talented Chloe Moretz, I’m all ears! Check out these stills, one of which shows Carrie famously covered in blood. Read the details on the plot as well. (via Dread Central)

Patrick remake poster sees you
This one sheet for the Patrick remake has been stirring up folks on the Interwebs, and you can kind of see why. This is a remake that slipped under just about everyone’s radar. The remake of the 1978 Richard Franklin film is directed by Mark Hartley (Not Quite Hollywood) and stars Richard E. Grant (Corpse Bride), Rachel Griffiths (Blow) and Sharni Vinson.
The synopsis:
After killing his mother and her lover some years before, Patrick is the comatose patient in Room 15 of a remote, private psychiatric clinic run by the secretive Dr. Roget, who treats him as a guinea pig in his bizarre studies of life and death. When Kathy, a nurse who has recently separated from her boyfriend, begins working at the clinic, she is instructed to care for him. She is disturbed by Roget’s treatment of him and somehow feels that Patrick is trying to make a connection with her. When Kathy realizes that the lifeless murderer can communicate, she is shocked but compelled to prove her theory. Patrick has psychokinetic powers that he uses to talk to Kathy by transferring his thoughts to a computer. As Patrick’s communication becomes stronger, strange and terrifying events begin to occur. Patrick has feelings for Kathy, and his affection is about to manifest itself as a deadly, bloody obsession. (via Dread Central)
Robocop gets a new chief
Looks like Marianne Jean-Baptiste will be giving the orders as the Chief of Police in the Robocop remake. Very little else is known about her character at the time, but Robocop will take place in the year 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is in charge of building robots that have been winning the U.S. wars, and now they want to bring this technology on their own turf. Marianne Jean-Baptiste (Without a Trace) joins Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Laurie and Jackie Earle Haley to name a few. (via Shock Til You Drop)
New poster for Rob Zombie’s Lords of Salem
Any lucky duck attending the Toronto International Film Festival will get to see the premiere of Rob Zombie’s latest flick, as well as getting to see the second poster he's released (the first of which looks like a character from Lucio Fulci’s House By the Cemetery). This second poster features Sheri Moon Zombie looking quite spooky. The posters themselves look like old '60s posters, plain and simple, yet effective.
The synopsis:
“Heidi (Mrs. Zombie), a blond rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the 'Big H Radio Team.' A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, a gift of the Lords. She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords' record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma. Later, Whitey plays the Lords' record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with his listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon, Heidi and her cohorts are far from the rock spectacle they're expecting. The original Lords of Salem are returning and they're out for blood.”

Dead Space 3 release date confirmed
Finally! The third entry in one of the most truly frightening video games series will be jumping out of the dark at you on Feb. 5, 2013 (at least here in the States). Be sure to pre-order the Limited Edition for access to the first two game bundles, "First Contact" and "Witness to the Truth." Check out the content that comes loaded in the Limited Edition as well as the trailer:
“First Contact” Bundle
• First Contact Suit: This unique EVA (Extra-Vehicular Activity) suit was built by the SCAF (Sovereign Colonies Armed Forces) for encounters with "foreign entities.” It sports a flamboyant golden finish to provide protection from long-term space exposure and thick armor for… unspecified reasons. The suit was given the nickname "First Contact" by the scientists who made it.
• Negotiator Weapon: While technically classified by the SCAF as a "scientific instrument,” the gold-plated "Negotiator" is loaded with some surprisingly aggressive hardware. The overclocked, top-mounted Tesla Beam is capable of bursting a man-sized organism into several pieces with a single shot. The bottom-mounted Linegun appears to have been built with the sole purpose of cleanly dismembering organic tissue from a distance.
"Witness the Truth" Bundle
• Witness Suit: These insulated suits were worn by a SCAF deep dig team assigned to exhume the darkest secrets of Tau Volantis. Whatever they found locked deep in the ice changed them forever. When they emerged weeks later, they were covered head to toe in strange graffiti and claimed to be "Witnesses to the Truth.”
• Evangelizer Weapon: A modification of the standard AL-2 used by the Sovereign Colonies Legionaries, this version sports a souped-up AL-2g assault rifle on the top with an Emerson 2100 "Big Boy" tactical shotgun on the bottom. The surviving "Witnesses" of the SCAF deep dig team dubbed it the Evangelizer and decorated them top to bottom with strange symbols.

NECA Reveals ‘Hero From the Sky’ Ash Figure!
Horror collectors rejoice! The first series of Evil Dead 2 figures, featuring ‘Farewell to Arms’ Ash and ‘Deadite’ Ash, were huge hits and Series Two - which is to feature the first-ever Henrietta figure - has yet to hit shelves. But NECA has revealed photos of their third exclusive figure for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con! Straight from the end of the Evil Dead 2, after traveling back in time to the Dark Ages, it’s ‘Hero from the Sky’ Ash! Judging from the photos, Ash comes equipped with his boomstick, chainsaw and a pretty cool display base, as well as that confused looking mug of his. The figure is painted in sepia tones, capturing a unique old-school horror look in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary. Although it’s a shame you’ll only be able to pick this up at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego (and probably eBay afterwards for a jacked-up price), if you’re going, it would definitely be worth picking up… or giving it to someone (hint hint).

Lin Shaye Cast in Hell Hunters Pilot
Cinema fans should know the name Lin Shaye (left) since she has had a role in about everything from Nightmare on Elm Street, Kingpin, Detroit Rock City and, most recently, Insidious. I could go on and on, but I’d rather get to the exciting news that Lin has been cast in the Hell Hunters genre series pilot, starring Bill Moseley and Michael Berryman. Hell Hunters is an action/horror breed about two childhood friends who become murderous vigilante crime fighters after reading a horror comic. Lin Shaye will be playing Gramma Ethel, the horrible grandmother of young Hazard, in what a press release called, "her most terrifying and grotesque role yet."

Official Release Date for Aliens: Colonial Marines
A video game acting as a direct sequel to James Cameron’s 1986 Aliens, Colonial Marines has finally settled on a release date… but, you’ll be waiting awhile. On Feb. 13, 2013, you’ll be loading up your Pulse Rifles and going on a bug hunt! From IGN.com, “In Aliens: Colonial Marines, players are part of a United States Colonial Marine squad and must prepare to face an Aliens assault more intense and horrific than ever before. Players must destroy the enemy with classic Aliens weaponry ranging from pulse rifles to flamethrowers as well as brand-new equipment. Aliens: Colonial Marines features a story driven single-player mode and a four player co-op mode allowing players to share the chilling experience with three friends. In co-op mode, each player assumes the persona of a United States Colonial Marine and have a distinct role to play in the completion of every mission.” I know it’s a long wait, but stay frosty!

Gary Oldman to Create Robocop
Gary Oldman has always been one of my favorite actors. He has an impressive resume and now he can add the Robocop remake to that list. Oldman will be playing Norton, the man who is responsible for creating the one and only Robocop! Surely, this news will turn some haters into believers. Joel Kinnaman is playing Alex Murphy with Jose Padilha directing. Expect to see Robocop on Aug. 9, 2013.

Jason Gedrick Cast for Dexter Season 7
Iron Eagle fans may get a kick out of TV’s Dexter’s latest casting news. Seems like Jason Gedrick (right) will be playing a gentleman’s club owner who is linked to a murder case. Aside from that, not too many details, so you’ll have to wait until Sept. 30 for the seventh season to air.

Hatchet 3: Cast and Ready to Shoot!
Adam Green and team are in Louisiana and all set to start shooting the new Hatchet sequel! We all know Kane Hodder and Danielle Harris are reprising their roles as Marybeth and Victor Crowley… I’ll let you figure out who is who, but some fresh blood includes Caroline Williams (best known as her role of Stretch from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2) as a journalist, Derek Mears (who played Jason in the Friday the 13th remake), Zach Galligan (Gremlins), Sean Whalen, Diane Goldner and Jason Trost. BJ McDonnell is directing the third installment; while Adam Green is producing (he also wrote the script). The story centers around Marybeth (Harris) as she tries to find an end to the voodoo curse that left Crowley’s ghost to terrorize the swamp.
