'Helix' Recap: 'Scion'

BY DAWN FEAKES

Holy cow. This may have been the most messed-up episode of "Helix" ever and if you watched the first season, you know that's saying something but even more important: Hatake! Let's do this.

Landry gets a noisy hand-job from Slutty Cult Chick who actually has a name, Amy. And Amy, like most young people, thinks that the grown-ups are doing a balls-up job of running the place so it's clearly up to her and her army of latex gloves to get rid of the scientists who are threatening their way of cult life. See guys, this is why parental involvement from an early age is critical. Michael seems to realize that Amy might need to complete her path but since she's not a plant, eh, he'll get around to it.

It's...it's...could it really be? Hatake! With a dead Daniel and Julia's mother so he may not be playing with a full deck but  really, we don't care because Hatake with an axe to grind. Literally.

Full 'Game of Thrones' Season Five Trailer

The "Game of Thrones" IMAX debut of the last two episodes of season four yielded a pretty kick ass trailer for season five. Also, some generous theater-goers decided to share the exclusive trailer. This one comes thanks to Max Trailers.

There were tons of cool images including; Tyrion Lannister falling out of a box and eventually meeting up with Varys, Dany being her usual fierce self, Jon Snow looking well...snowy, Sand Snakes, Cersei being a bitch and Jaime looking over his dead daddy. Oh and Margaery's wedding to Tommen. Hopefully that ends well. Kidding. The trailer met with cheers from the fans so HBO seems to have pleased the masses with this one.

Kit Harington described the new season as lavish and based on this leaked trailer, he wasn't kidding.
"Game of Thrones" returns to HBO on Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. ET.

TV Ghost Hunter Amy Bruni Talks Ghostbusters All-female Cast

2015-01-28-Ghostbusters3Cast.jpg

BY AARON SAGERS

In a paranormal event to rival the Philadelphia mass turbulence of 1947, and the Gozer the Gozerian attack on New York City in 1984, a new Ghostbusters film is arriving in theaters on July 22, 2016. And this time, the bustin' will come courtesy of a cast of four women comedians.

After an incredibly long development process, director Paul Feig confirmed the date and appeared to announce his cast of previous collaborators Melissa McCarthy (Bridesmaids, The Heat), Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) and Saturday Night Live castmates stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.

Although The Hollywood Reporter says the negotiations are "ongoing," this looks like a pretty done deal. Interestingly enough, both Wiig and McCarthy were two actors that original ghostbuster Bill Murray suggested for the job when asked by the Toronto Star last September (where he also suggested they all-female cast would have better outfits).

But if the female cast gets a thumbs-up from a ghostbuster, how does the idea strike a ghost hunter? I reached out to Amy Bruni, a paranormal investigator on Syfy's 10-year-old series Ghost Hunters to find out.

Debuting in 2005, Ghost Hunters introduced many reality-TV tropes surrounding the paranormal, and remains one of the most popular. Bruni retired from the show last year following six years and 112 episodes as one of the only female cast members, and is still listed as an active member of the series on its Syfy site. She has also been a longtime organizer of paranormal conventions and is the founder of the Strange Escapes event company.

Bruni joined me in the interview below to discuss what she's excited about, or concerned by, with the new cast of Ghostbusters. She also offers some advice on busting ghosts, and how to do deal with being women in a ghosty boys club.

2015-01-28-AmyBruni.jpeg

What was your initial reaction when you heard there was going to be an all-female Ghostbusters cast?

I definitely thought it was a stunt. Then I thought about it more and realized it was perfect. There was really no way they could fill the shoes of the original cast, or re-cast them with younger actors because they were just too iconic.

Would you prefer seeing these women as characters existing in the same universe as the other Ghostbusters, or as original characters in an entirely fresh reboot?

I think what would work, and what is most believable, is if this cast is in the modern-day and that the past team still exists. Some crossover of characters would be amazing. I'd of course love to see some sort of dedication to Harold Ramis. [Ramis died Feb. 2014, and Bruni weighed in with Huffington Post with how his death impacted the paranormal community.]

What are you most excited to see from this new cast, and are you hoping for some paranormal investigative authenticity?

I think some people would be surprised to know how authentic the original Ghostbusters movies were when it came to ghostly legends and theories. It is also sort of like Star Trek in that some of the things they used actually sort of came into existence later. ("PKE" meters in Ghostbusters = our EMF meters.) I would love if they actually took some of the devices paranormal investigators use today and put them in the movie. Let's face it, things like the Spirit Box, the Ovilus, Thermal Imaging Cameras? That could all be comedy gold. We're very easy to make fun of.

As a paranormal investigator, how are women typically welcomed in the field? Is it an all boys club?

I would say the paranormal field strongly skews female. When you attend a paranormal convention, you've usually got 75 percent ladies to 25 percent men -- keep that in mind, all you single paranormal enthusiasts! However, on television, the field is strongly represented by men and frankly, it's just not accurate.

In the years since the first Ghostbusters, there have been a lot of paranormal reality shows about ghosts -- with your show arguably being the most successful one. Would you like to see that genre reflected in the movie?

I feel they have to address the paranormal reality craze because it has become such a game changer in the field. I would love to poke fun at the TV investigator versus the die-hard old-school investigators. And they can poke fun at our equipment, or the fact that we pretty much never find ghosts. Like I said, we're easily mocked and if you're going to embrace the paranormal field, you sort of have to be ready to be made fun of. A lot.

Are there any changes you'd like to see made to iconic Ghostbusters imagery or, conversely, anything you fear (like pink jumpsuits)?

I love the Ghostbusters imagery. One of the first teams I was on actually used an old ambulance as our gear truck -- mostly because it worked so well for storing everything. I'm sure the jumpsuits will get a bit of an update. I hope not pink! I mean, if we wanted to really mock the paranormal community, they could get matching t-shirts with a team acronym on them, right? [Bruni's investigative team on Ghost Hunters was The Atlantic Paranormal Society, or T.A.P.S.]

Do you know the work of these actors, and if so, what makes them suited for paranormal investigation?

I'm a huge Kristen Wiig fan and seeing her name is what really sold me on this idea. She has a dry comedic style that I think will work great. Also, if any of these ladies need to consult with a real life female paranormal investigator, I'm just saying, but I'm available!

What advice would you give to the women of Ghostbusters about entering the field of the paranormal?

Ladies, you've got big shoes to fill. Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis wrote the original Ghostbusters because Aykroyd has deep knowledge and respect for the paranormal, and it shows in the final product. Do your homework and joke about us, but get to know the reasons and theories behind our crazy hobby. I look forward to watching!

Last week we said goodbye to Gregory and Laura heaved a sigh of relief. Hold onto your tokens and may the odds (and molds) be ever in your favor. Let's do this.

The contestants take a field trip to the LA Coliseum where once they are reassured that no, they won't have to be LA's football team, they receivedtheir spotlight challenge. The spotlight challenge this week is to take on the role of an evil game engineer and create their own deadly predator with a combined deadly animal and exotic plant a la "The Hunger Games." Glenn's one directive is to not put flowers around the heads or his inner predator will be unleashed upon those who dare not to listen. My directive is that if someone doesn't say 'get to the choppa' then they're not really trying and we can't be friends anymore. Oh, and Josh Hutcherson will be joining the judging panel and you don't want to disappoint Peeta, do you?

Female Leads for 'Ghostbusters' Announced Plus Release Date

Our New Ghostbusters (courtesy Paul Feig's Twitter)
Sorry, Chris Pratt. Your rumored news about being cast as Indiana Jones might be overshadowed by this reveal. Or maybe not? According to Paul Feig on that marvelous social media site, Twitter and The Hollywood Reporter, we know who's in negotiations to be cast as the four female Ghostbusters. There are a couple surprises and a couple of duhs.

According to THR, "Melissa McCarthy, who was already in talks for one of the leads, has signed on for the Paul Feig-directed reboot, and the studio is now negotiating with Kristen Wiig, as well as Saturday Night Live players Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon." They added, "Negotiations are ongoing but the quartet are expected to sign on as the specter-seeking, poltergeist-punishing and phantom-phollowing foursome in the reboot, which is eyeing a summer shoot in New York."

Obviously there's been a lot of controversy surrounding how this whole thing will pan out and Feig reassured us fans that he won't do us wrong. I like these ladies and hope for the best. What say you? It's scheduled to be in theaters July 22, 2016 so we'll be talking about this for a while. Yay?

After last week's Crane and Katrina Scooby-fest we've got Hawley, karaoke, and relationship talk tonight. Let's do this.

Nothing relaxes hard-working Witnesses more than some karaoke with Jenny and Hawley in a double-date. Which it isn't because Crane and Katrina are totes back together and Abbie does not want to talk about it. Hawley's gotta bail though, there are deals to be made but alas, he just got Lando Calrissian-ed big time as his foster mom Carmella wants some help with one last job: robbing Theodore Knox's estate, you know since I raised you and everything.

Sorry to break up the party kids but Hawley's not back and someone's broken into the archives. Good thing because Crane was about to follow up with a drinking song. But priorities guys, archives before all. Good news though, Hawley was the one who broke into the archives. Two birds, one stone and all that. Momma Carmella's got something going on with her teeth though and she may want to get that looked at.

Get your drinks ready as we wait for molds to crack, time management to fail, and magic to grace the reveal stage. Let's do this.

The teams will need to add a tyrannical simian ruler who wants those alien interlopers off the planet. In order to be able to thoroughly impress guest judge Rick Baker, they are given an extra day in the lab. Try not to waste it or anything guys.

Team Laura - Squirrel Monkey
Team Anthony - Mandrill
Team Rayce - White-Faced Capuchin

Gregory, Alan, and Logan are sculpting the monkey faces and Laura's really not feeling Gregory's interpretation. Captain's remorse? Mr. Westmore arrives with slightly better news; at least Anthony doesn't look like he's about to cry. Gregory suffers from overhelpfulitis and falls behind on the monkey face. He knows he's struggling and busts out the 'I don't want to go home' line. (This is also known as the 'loser edit.') Drink! Don't worry Laura, at least Darla has immunity. Ben's payback for being nasty to Kelly earlier is a broken hand mold so drink your drink.

Marvel's 'Secret Wars' Officially Announced

Every part of the present Marvel business model will be on display this May with the release of Secret Wars. It's another event-driven plot that basically issues a relaunch of titles where hints of resurrected heroes come in to play. That covers the big three things, right? At a live announcement today, Editor-in-Chief, Axel Alonso, and Senior VP and Executive Editor, Tom Brevoort, officially unveiled plans for the MU-changing Secret Wars it has been teasing for months now.

Did you think all those teaser covers of past Marvel events were just gratuitous, tongue-in-cheek ways of paying homage to Marvel history? Well, they were, but they also served the purpose of giving fans a preview of each world that will be inhabiting Battleworld, even if they didn't realize it. Battleworld looks a lot like Earth. In fact, it is Earth, but after the conclusion of the Time Runs Out thread that's been playing out through Avengers and New Avengers for the past couple of years. Jonathan Hickman will continue the meta-plot he's been guiding in Avengers and New Avengers since their respective relaunches and help create an entirely new world for Marvel with Esad Ribic manning the pencils.

Details on 'Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life' Documentary

HBO has been a little stingy about releasing details on the upcoming fifth season of "Game of Thrones" but they're starting to roll out the goodies. A mystery featurette has been previously mentioned and now we know what it entails.

The half-hour documentary is called "Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life" and according to Entertainment Weekly, the special "covers one day of season 5 production on three different Thrones sets in three different countries – Belfast, Northern Ireland; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Sevilla and Osuna, Spain." It will air February 8, at 7:30 p.m.

Will we get a juicy peek at scenes from season five? We'll most certainly learn at least some details since the special will involve spending time with crew members and visiting “the epic sets, renowned cast and global scale of Thrones, as well as the more intimate and individual challenges of our subjects, giving the audience a new perspective on one of the most elaborate productions in television history.”

If you can't wait, remember to head to your local IMAX theater starting on January 29 to not only watch an exclusive season five trailer but view "The Watchers on the Wall" and "The Children." Click here for details.

The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" premieres on Sunday, April 12 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

Scottish Hotel Owner Discovers Face of E.T. in a Tree Trunk

E. TREE?
Apparently E.T. didn't make it back to his home planet. He ended up in Scotland...in a tree? In the land where Nessie supposedly resides, a hotel owner recently discovered the face of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in a tree trunk.

"We kid you knot," says Billy Harley, the proprietor of the Uig Hotel on the Isle of Skye. Harley was the Elliot who spotted smiling E.T. "inside the trunk of a tree he was chopping to make firewood for the popular bar of his hotel."

Harley was quoted as saying, “The weather has got a lot colder in the last week and I was getting some additional logs ready to keep the place warm for our guests. I put the chainsaw through a trunk and there was ET staring back at me. I phoned home and my wife brought a camera out to take some pictures.”

Harley's plans are uncertain, “We’re not quite sure what to do now. We could turn ET into a coffee table or a bar stool maybe.” So you can potentially enjoy your scotch whilst sitting on the tree face of a famous movie alien.

The Isle of Skye is certainly an appropriate place for E.T. to end up and the Harley family is hoping his appearance will drum up business and draw in folks who are "perhaps wishing for a glimpse in the sky of ET’s parents coming to collect him." They are also considering naming one the hotel rooms after the world-famous alien.

I guess you never know what you'll find when you're chopping wood? Adorable things, that's what! Matrixing is cool.

Belgian Duo Combines Horror and Taxidermy in Photo Project

Fox Confirms Talks of an 'X-Files' Reboot

Scully & Mulder ponder this reboot idea
In yet another attempt to jump on the reboot wagon, the powers that be over at Fox look like they may want to capture again the magic that was "The X-Files." The series was quite a supernatural hit and ran from 1993-2002. This old gal may have been a little obsessed with the show and shed a tear or two thousand when it ended so this is good news, right? Maybe?

Entertainment Weekly reports that, "...the network’s leadership says they are seriously chasing a reboot of The X-Files..." The good news is, they (meaning Fox chairman and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman) want Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny back as Agents Scully and Mulder as well as series creator, Chris Carter to be on board. Bad news is, these are busy folks who have have other projects to which they must attend.

Gary Newman confirmed, "It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on X-Files. We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point.” Dana Walden added, "Gary and I both worked [at 20th Century Fox Television] through the entire run of 'The X Files.' It was a great experience. We’ve maintained good relationships with Chris, David and Gillian. We’re very hopeful, but it’s hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it’s just trying to carve out the time."

So, the discussion has been confirmed but that's about it at this point. Contractual obligations must be cleared but should this happen at all? When "The X-Files" aired, it was a pretty novel show and there really weren't many fictional, hour-long shows airing at this time. Now there are plenty from which to choose. Sound familiar, "Ghostbusters" reboot people? Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see what Mulder and Scully are up to but maybe they should just continue to live in our imaginations?

What say you about the idea of a reboot? Sound off as to why a new "The X-Files" TV series should be resurrected like Lazarus or put to rest.

The Farragut Family Love Quadrangle is back but first, a quick summary of Season One...

Dr. Alan Farragut from the CDC was called to the Arctic Biosystems outpost with his crack team of epidemiologists (Dr. Julia 'Jules' Walker, his ex-wife, Dr. Sarah Jordan, his protege and bedroom companion and, Dr. Doreen Boyle who was simply the best character ever) to solve the mystery of a retro-viral outbreak. Complicating things were that his brother, Dr. Peter Farragut who had an affair with Julia, is also based there and has been infected with the virus which kind of turns people into...zombies? Ish? The director of the facility, Dr. Hiroshi Hatake, a sexy, sexy man, stymies them at every turn aided by his adopted son-cum-bodyguard Daniel Aerov and doubled crossed by crooked Major Sergio Balleseros. More baddies from the mother corporation Illaria show up, Doreen and Daniel die, Julia is revealed to be Hatake's daughter and becomes an infected immortal as aliens are behind it all but it's cool since Alan blew up a building, Peter's loyalties keep shifting and the Narvik virus gets loose. Everyone good? Excellent. Let's do this.

Robert Kirkman Reveals New Info on 'The Walking Dead' Spinoff

Courtesy AMC blogs
A new look, new characters, a new location, and a new director with new vision in Adam Davidson. These are the tidbits Robert Kirkman, creator and one of the executive producers of "The Walking Dead," revealed about the show's new companion series. Entertainment Weekly recently pinned down Kirkman to get some much desired info on the show that will begin filming in a few days.

We already know it will be set in Los Angeles but will it be any way connected to Atlanta or the characters we've come to know and love (and sometimes hate with the fire of a thousand suns)? Here is what Kirkman told EW...

I will say that this is going to be a show about family. But it’s going to be a show about a different type of family that we haven’t explored in "The Walking Dead" thus far. So what we’re trying to do with "The Walking Dead" spinoff is keep the story as familiar as possible for people that love "The Walking Dead," so you’ll get the kind of things that you expect from a Walking Dead story. But, at the same time, we’ll want to tell these stories in a completely different way with completely different people in a completely different setting that’s going to make for a fundamentally different show. I think the look and feel of "The Walking Dead" spinoff is going to be startlingly different.

First Trailer For New Syfy Space Series, 'The Expanse'

Coming to Syfy this year is a new hour-long, ten-episode outer space series based on the New York Times bestselling book series collectively known as "The Expanse." It will be called, appropriately, "The Expanse." The book series was written by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck (under the pen name James S. A. Corey) and they'll also serve as show producers.

The series is described by Syfy as, "A thriller set two hundred years in the future, 'The Expanse' follows the case of a missing young woman who brings a hardened detective and a rogue ship’s captain together in a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history." It will star Thomas Jane ("The Mist") as Detective Miller. He is "a native of the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter" who "works for a corporate security force that operates as the law in the asteroid belt." Cool job, right? We get to see him in action in the first released trailer for the series and brace yourselves, this trailer features zero-gravity space sex. The future looks pretty cool.

The series also stars Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala and Steven Strait as an officer named Holden. There's no air date scheduled as of yet but we'll keep you updated.

Update and Theater List For 'Game of Thrones' IMAX Screenings

Last week, we reported that the HBO series, "Game of Thrones," would be engaging in a huge first. Screenings of the final two episodes of season four were coming to IMAX as well as an exclusive bonus trailer for its fifth season. The event was supposed to begin on January 23 but was moved to January 29 at 10 p.m. ET.  Also, instead of 150 theaters, "The Watchers on the Wall" and "The Children" will now be shown in about 200 theaters across the US and Canada.

Why the changes? The official blog site states, "Due to high levels of consumer demand, 'Game of Thrones' in IMAX will now launch one week later on Thursday, January 29 beginning at 10 p.m. and extend through February 5. The date change allows for an expanded roll-out of screens to upwards of 200 IMAX theatres. This will be the first-ever presentation of a television program in IMAX theatres, featuring two episodes from season four of 'Game of Thrones' followed by the worldwide debut of the series’ season five sneak-peek preview created exclusively for IMAX."

Good news, right? But wait! There's more! The site states that, "...the first 300 IMAX ticket holders for the Thursday night opening show time at participating IMAX theatres will receive a commemorative 'Game of Thrones' poster from well-known illustrator Robert Ball, who designed interpretive images of the most iconic deaths in each episode."

Is a theater near you on the list and if so, will you be attending? Let us know how awesome it was if you do! Tickets will go on sale on January 16 and you can secure your seats by clicking here. Also, more theaters may be added so keep checking back here to see if one is close to you.

The fifth season of "Game of Thrones" begins on April 12 at 9 p.m. ET.

Hog Island Press Releases a Cryptozoological Map of America

We really dig our monsters here in America so when we saw that Hog Island Press from Philadelphia, PA put out a "Monsters in America: A Cryptozoological Map of the United States" we had to share. The site describes the map as a "snapshot of American cryptozoology that brings together the Jersey Devil, Bigfoot, Mothman, Chupacabra, Shunka Warakin, Caddy, the Honey Island Swamp Monster and many more cryptids on one hand-drawn, hand-screened map."

Even cooler? Official Trailer for Upcoming Horror Film, 'It Follows'

Nothing warms my cold heart like a horror film with a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so imagine my glee when I came across It Follows.

From Radius-TWC, the David Robert Mitchell-directed horror flick is set for wide release on March 27 and has already received great reviews from critics. For example, The Hollywood Reporter says It Follows has a, "Canny manipulation of tone, atmosphere and tension makes this a satisfying little horror movie." Other adjectives used to describe the film include, "inventive," "atmospheric" and "truly unsettling." Dig it.

So what's it about? The synopsis describes it as follows, "After a strange sexual encounter, a teenager (Maika Monroe) finds herself haunted by nightmarish visions and the inescapable sense that something is after her." Hear that, teenagers? Don't go and have the sex, mmmkay?

Check out the trailer and let us know if you intend on taking a chance on It Follows this March.

International Trailer for James Wan's 'Demonic'

Courtesy horrorpedia.com
Movies about demons, possession, inhuman spirits and the like are a dime a dozen these days but when James Wan (The Conjuring) is attached (get it? attached? never mind) I'll take an interest. The international trailer for Demonic was recently released and even though it has the usual suspects (pretty people looking for paranormal activity), it may have some redeeming qualities.

The film is directed by Will Canon with the story by Wan and stars Maria Bello as a psychologist and Frank Grillo as a police detective. They're investigating the "deaths of five people who were killed while trying to summon ghosts." The trailer offers some genuinely creepy footage but we want your opinion. Have you had your fill of demons or are you rooting for Hollywood to keep possessing theaters? We're still waiting on a release date for Demonic, but we'll keep you posted.

Rhode Island Brewery Celebrates Lovecraft with New Brews

Courtesy Narragansett Beer
One of Providence, Rhode Island's most famous sons is getting his own line of brews thanks to Narragansett Beer. H.P. Lovecraft and his works have inspired a new line and the first, Lovecraft Honey Ale, will be released on January 19.

Narragansett is pairing with another RI brewery, Revival Brewing, to produce the upcoming four beers. Narragansett Beer President Mark Hellendrung states, “We’re celebrating our 125th anniversary here and this is kind of an extension of what we’ve been trying to do at the brewery, bringing back this great brand through a historical lens and local authenticity. One of our ‘Gansett Girls is actually a librarian and she had this idea, knowing that Lovecraft’s birthday was in 1890, the same year our brewery was founded. We thought it was a great way to give Sean Larkin, our brewmaster, a platform to really experiment with different styles of beer.”

Hellendrung also said, “This one is really a prologue about H.P. Lovecraft himself. We picked one of his stories, ‘The Festival,’ where there’s a space mead consumed by a winged creature. What’s great about craft beer is that it’s really breaking the style boundaries and guidelines. So, this is Sean’s interpretation of a modern day honey mead through the medium of a beer.”

According to Boston Magazine, "The Lovecraft Honey Ale is brewed with Summit and El Dolorado hops, honey, and five different types of malt, including honey malt. Hellendrung describes the beer as a 'full-bodied ale that’s very hop-intense.' The beer clocks in at a respectable seven percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and has artwork provided by graphic designer A.J. Paglia."

The next chapter in this Brewstory will go darker with an “Innsmouth” old ale that's based on his novella, "The Shadow Over Innsmouth." It's set to be released in April.

New Promo Trailer for 'The Walking Dead' Season Five

There's a brand spanking new trailer for the remainder of the fifth season of "The Walking Dead" with a key goal in mind... "Surviving together is all that matters." A foggy forest has the band of survivors shooting at something but is it alive or dead?

Is this a scene from an episode or just a promo? Probably just a promo indicating that the remainder of the season will prove to be even more violent that the first half. That tends to be the trend with this series, right?

We'll all be reunited on Sunday, February 8 at 9 p.m. ET.

'Game of Thrones' to Invade IMAX Theaters

Dinklage in 'The Children'
Fans of the visually stunning HBO series, "Game of Thrones," are in for a treat this month when the final two episodes of the fourth season as well as an exclusive preview of the fifth season, are heading to theaters.

According to Entertainment Weekly, "HBO is releasing a 'Game of Thrones' 'movie' into IMAX theaters later this month comprised of the final two episodes of the show’s fourth season." This event will take place in 150 IMAX theaters for one week beginning Jan. 23.

The final two episodes as you may recall, were "The Watchers on the Wall" aka that cool Castle Black episode and the Emmy-nomiated, "The Children." According to Pamela Levine, chief marketing officer at HBO, "The cinematic brilliance and grand scope of the series is perfect for the IMAX format.  We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event.”

Greg Foster, senior executive vice president, IMAX Corp. expresses, “We couldn’t think of a series more fitting than Game of Thrones to be the first presented in IMAX. The scope and production quality of the show is quite remarkable, which will be highlighted even further in select IMAX locations – allowing fans, as never before, to become a part of author George R. R. Martin’s world that [showrunners] David Benioff and D. B. Weiss created for HBO. It has the action, storyline and epic nature that our fans seek in IMAX and we’re thrilled to team with HBO and our longtime partners at Warner Brothers to offer audiences a chance to experience it in the ultimate theatre setting joined by other fans of the series.”

We've received some peeks into the new season mainly from HBO's year-ender video (embedded below) but it's certainly not enough to hold us over until the series return in April. An extended look at the fifth season is in the works for a February airing. We'll keep you posted, but let us know what you think of Thrones hitting theaters.

'Sleepy Hollow' Recap: 'Paradise Lost'

BY DAWN FEAKES

Hey all, welcome back! Did you have a good holiday? Just to get everyone on the same page, Hawley was babysitting Abraham, Henry killed Moloch for not loving him enough and Katrina survived (dammit.) Let's do this.

After the battle against Moloch, the crew wakes in the woods to find Henry gone. This...is rather unlike him. Crane can't rest though, there must be some evil to fight that doesn't include speaking to Katrina. Abbie humors him but is clearly thinking about the future post-Witness. It may be important but it sure doesn't pay very well. You know the old saying that if you look hard enough for trouble you'll find it? Well they do in the form of demons looking to summon their master but out of the darkness who should arrive but Batman, er, Orion. Crane shockingly doesn't immediately take to the new arrival but that could be because Katrina just decided she needed him. Leftenant, hang with our feathered friend please. TTFN.
